We need some Vandari art

What the hell folks! I'm I going to have to commission this stuff or what?

We obviously need some Vandari art created.

I don't know why I have to be the one to always think of this crap first.

re.gifmonger, October 12, 2002, 00:39
been there done that
no doubt the new GN already came with a cool, sadistic (yet still somehow highly insightful & stirring-in-the-spirit) rendition of all you creepy creatures of the netherworld done by Tamar, the way she's enlightened us with the personal features of the Selvegion, Lethargy, Pan, Bacchus, the Keys, and other such menacing random objects. Let's hear it for Tamar! Come on girl, making MovingOn your gallery of choice could be a great opportunity for recognition, with all the controversy this site has been garnering lately.

Post some of her shit, Monger
Can you scan and post some of those pics you're talking about. The recent depictions of the so-called demons and anything having to do with swords and keys, etc. Front covers of GN's mostly. Anything pertinent. TX.

Peanut gallery of art
I'm looking forward to hear what Uncle Alf has to say about all the artwork flooding this website. Also, I think this new turn of events may have an interesting effect on our resident Bible-thumper Andrew's postings.  (reply to this post)

re.gifDeranged1, September 24, 2002, 00:23
I see we've got another infatuated Alf groupie...
What is it with you men?
(reply to this post)

re.gifJoeH, September 24, 2002, 12:23
sweeping generalization
not all the men on this site are "alf groupies" (I suspect that was a typo and you were referring directly to me)

I just got a little irritated to see a website which normally contains good debate and interesting wisecracks degenerate into a forum of wannabe artists sucking up to each other. But I think Alf will rebuke you people much more eloquently than I can.

re.gifmonger, September 24, 2002, 20:35
That's a low blow -- and speaking of low blows, how's Alf?
Joe, how 'bout you leave your dear bitch Alfie out of this for just a second and insult me like a man you pussy. Why can't you just be like this when you're replying to my art? :) I think the REAL problem here is that there just aren't enough pricks like you talking to us in our section. Seriously, I too find it phenomenally boring when everyone has to find virtue in your work (even when they're criticizing you)--so do your worst! :)
Hey I think Alf can be one damn witty guy (plus he's a prick which is always a plus :] ), but hey I don't stoop to calling on him to insult people for me. Personally, I think the art section is kind of fun, but hey if you think the art here sucks hairy goat balls, or that our pictures aren't worthy for pigs to make sweet love to, just say so (and preferably also say why you think so ...which will help us when we disagree with you & point out why it actually is worthy :] ).
In fact, I claimed my 'backbend' girl looked like a mutant giraffe, in part because you had previously called it "a great piece of art." Okay okay, so I do enjoy a groupie as much as the next wannabe :), but hey you seem to enjoy when people suck up to YOUR gay-ass wannabe poetry. :P By the way, all the art is safely tucked away within its own section, just like your poetry, so I don't see this entire site degenerating into anything just yet.
I'm impressed though; I've never met such a small mind inside such a big head before. :) :P

re.gifJoeH, September 25, 2002, 13:55
uh, okay
you're kind of all over the place here, but I think the main gist is that you want me to insult your artwork more harshly which I'll do when I find the time. I'm not much of an art critic though, I kind of just know what I like and I don't like. My initial complaint was that the entire "recent comments" section was filled with "hey this is really cool" and "I like this a lot", and "maybe some day I'll get laid as a result of my talent" and thought Alf was likely to have a field day with this one.

PS: peppering your posts with emoticons doesn't add eloquence or personableness to your banter

I understood your complaint and explained the dynamics of art forums to you.

Like I said, art is usually posted in bunches. Since the category was new you've seen 3 bunches (Sunny, monger and mine).

Then it dies down.

Incidentally I think it's a valid point you have, the navegability of this site is such that it's very easy for one category to dominate the "what's new" page.

I sympathize with that and as I said it won't likely stay this way.

But insolence for insolence's sake is silly and pontless. What do you expect to acheive with feckless insults?

I'm bored at work
and so are the majority of the people viewing this website, I'm just trying to amuse myself and my loyal readers/detractors, don't take anything of it too personally.

If you tried to kill me I wouldn't take it personal. I just think civility is far more productive toward a FUN enviroment. It's a taste issue, many here don't seem to mind a site that looks like a Jr. High playground.

Everyone retorts in accord with their intellectual capabilities. In some cases the dearth is shamefull, in others it's just for lack of substance.
(reply to this post)

re.gifJoeH, September 26, 2002, 00:31
then you'd do well to read some of my other ramblings
unlike you, I don't need to post photos of myself with gay makeup and fake blood. But if anyone asks me for junior-high level humour, I'll be happy to respond.

re.gifCraven thinks this is a waste of bandwidth, September 26, 2002, 03:09

a) I've not ever posted any pictures of myself with either makeup or blood. A drwaing with blood yes, but makeup has me perplexed as to the origin of that statement.

b) I'm not easily baited by the childish accusations of homosexuality. It says more about the person lobbing it than it does about the victim of the insult.

c) I did not request your drivel, you felt compelled to share it of your own free will. I only commented that the incessant infighting was and is childish and I stand by that remark.

I already regret my part in this childish affair, I'm sure the hard work Jules put into this site was not with the aim of having us exchange insults. I'd not like to participate in any such wastes of bandwidth in the future unless something of substance will be argued (I don't know about you, but calling others gay is not my idea of ideal net usage).

Therefore I'll not continue a "battle of wits with an unarmed man". Feel free to get a gratuitous insult in. I'll let you have your parting shot if that's what it will take to end this untoward display of playground antics.

I apologize to anyone else on this site for my part in such nonsense. Having the art "take over" this site made me concerned about the effect it'd have on the other members' use of this forum but to step into the childish frey was not my intention and I'll make an attempt to avoid such meaningless exchanges in the future.

re.gifJoeH, September 29, 2002, 15:26
you just don't get it
ok, I thought "My head hasn't healed" was a photo, but it still creeps me out either way. Secondly, I never called you gay, I said "gay-ass makeup" or something to that effect. And I'm sorry if my junior-high level remarks hurt your feelings, I thought it was pretty obvious that they were in jest.

The net is a shoddy medium for humor, one's facial expressions and verbal intonation are not available to help determine the intent of the writer.

'Twas for that reason that emoticons were invented.

No worries mate.

re.gifJoeH, September 25, 2002, 14:05
point taken
alf's not always that eloquent, I should have used the word "hilariously" to describe his feedback.

In that case, you and I also differ even more greatly in what we find "hillarious".

Maybe I'm getting old but acting like a sophomoric dolt is not my idea of humor nor meaningful interaction.

But maybe I need to hang out with more 14-year-olds. I might learn to appreciate crass putdowns as fine comedy.

In my experience artists post in bunches (as opposed to poets who post as they write) and as soon as the resident artists put most of their work here this category will die down.

You should check out the ascii thing i did on my first site (an MSN community).

It's the raven on the home page.

I cheated when I did it (I don't have the time to do it ALL by hand) but it looks alright.
