since so many of us use the chatroom while at work, and would have a really hard time explaining what MovingOn chat is ("Uh, I'm still getting over my last girlfriend") can we make the title a little bit smaller and more discreet?

The Girls Rule This Site!
As of today, 1/14/2003 1:26:03 PM, there are 503 persons registered on this site. 253 claim to be female, 219 claim to be male, and 31 failed to claim either. Why does this site seem to attract more females than males? Any theories?

My opinion...
... from my professional experience is that females are more likely to register to create a profile within an online "community", and are less reticent with the information they disclose. Men can't be bothered a lot of the time. There are about 14,000 unique visitors to this site every month and actually the number of male registered users is quite high based on my experience.

My point is that web sites in general that are interactive, content-driven and community-based and not focusing on gaming, technology or adult content usually have about a 60/40 f/m gender split.

I was trying to be clear. It's just that those stats are based on my experience with web site development, not any report I can direct you to, and I was trying to cover my ass in case I got cross-examined on the numbers.

I have to agree with Jules. I think when you concider the number of females to males that were in TF, the turn out on this site is a lot better then expected. Ofcourse, the more the merrier...the population of this site is 5x what it was when I first registered- good job Jules!

More Females in TF?
I always remember there being a larger majority of females than males in TF generally speaking. I remember the ratio in most homes being something like 7 (or more) females for every male. This could be one theory.

After reading the skirt and pants anecdotes and remembering my own sartorial nightmares in the F, I finally realize have earned every last bit of an excuse to feel OK about all the money I waste on clothes! If I had known I one day would be able to dress as I chose, I might have been humming a little more while scrubbing those toilets and floors. Take that, dear Revolutionary Aunties! aaaaargh
I nearly split my sides laughing when I saw your comment, Anthony. But then that night I dreamt I was back at a Combo with like 25 bathrooms and I was thinking "please, please, anything but cleaning," but sure enough, on the whiteboard, there is was: I had to do JJT!! Immediately I started to think of how I could do a halfhearted job...then I was like, no, not worth getting in trouble...then I was rehearsing in my head the logistics of what to do first, refill multiple TPs or drag bucket and mop up and down the stairs to all the different ones...
Then mercifully I woke up, got my bearings, put on a nice suit and went to my lucrative job at the top of our field, where my boss asked me to draft an important document and do some research and treated me like the intelligent woman I am. I asked my secretary for some help with the things my time is to expensive for me to do. After lunch at the cafeteria where our chef cooked for the Olympic Village and I have a zillion choices, my colleague stpped by to shoot the breeze about New Year's party plans. No micromanaging, either.
Sometimes all it takes to appreciate the present is a dream about the Family homes!
