Thought it was interesting...
My boyfriend's not in the Family, but just a couple of minutes ago I had received an email from someone who is in WS, and since my BF's a computer nerd, I asked him if he could tell where this email came from, and he told looked at it for a couple of minutes, and told me the State and the Zip code for the area. I just thought it was really funny, that someone could just find out the general vicinity of where they are, yet they try to be selah...  (reply to this post)

re.gifjpmagero, August 6, 2002, 14:12
a little more to it than that
I live in Brazil yet I own a domain that is hosted in the US. My mail server is also there so when I send mail, it goes through the smtp server THERE in the US and that's that. If you try to trace it, that's what you'll find.
And, when I was at one of the CRO offices, we would routinely pass mail on from WS, just get the original message and paste the body and it's goes a whole new set of boots, without the original tracks.
Yes, the family is very lame on it's security and anyone with a little determination and a bit of cash, could get at the root of them pretty easily, I imagine. But something like that means almost nothing.

re.gifanonymous, August 6, 2002, 14:28
agreed...
so true, and as far as their e-mail security, they have gone to great lengths recently to cover their footprints, i.e. changing/stripping headers (which isn't exactly legal) and also other things like changing the time on the mailserver so that when you receive mail from them it looks like it came from another country. I know some of this because I was there... but then again like you mentioned anyone with some cash and a few net savvy techs could eventually trace them.

re.gifanonymous, August 6, 2002, 08:07
not much of a nerd... but still a good try
Well, the funny thing is the only information he came up with was most likely the host server where the e-mail came from and frankly that doesn't give you shit.

I can assure you that they are in the US, but that has nothing to do with the fact that you didn't find them or even their general "vicinity"... your geeky honey found the host e-mail server. In layman's terms: basically you found a relay server at a co-lo facility where they host a mailserver. Doesn't take much of a nerd to do that. They send their mail out through that server and thus you have no way of finding the point of origin since they strip the "headers" with a script on the co-lo mailserver.

Idea for a Family Movie
The COG should make a horror film about a small town terrorized by "The Bergyman", a vengeful ghost who flies through your kitchen, and nags to death anyone he finds with junk food. It could be titled: "I Know What Was in Your Pantry Last Summer!"   (reply to this post)

re.gifIsislively, February 19, 2003, 19:23
What's with the pantry thing?
Hey, I left before PsychoDad (Berg) died so I don't understand this continual reference to his ghost being in the pantry. If anyone would care to enlighten me, maybe then I'd get the joke? Thanks.

re.gifexplaining, February 20, 2003, 13:18
the pantry joke
A few years back there was a letter written to the Family about having better eating habits, stop the junk food, etc. And in this letter was this prophecy from "Dad" and he was saying that during his "rounds to the Homes" he had seen all this "bad junk food" in their pantries...

Thanks
Thanks for the explanation. Yanno, I think this celebrating his birthday is what's keeping the crackpot's ghost around. And they call me crazy... :::wanders off shaking head:::

Peter Amsterdam's Prick
I have heard that the Family has been asked to "pray for Peter's penis." Does anyone know exactly what's wrong with it? I hope this doesn't sound too morbid, but I have at least one step-sister living in his home, and any small assurance that he might not be f**king them would be appreciated.  (reply to this post)

Trinity?
I've heard a rumor that the Family now prays in the name of the Trinity, consisting of the link between Zerby as Jesus's connection, Matthew as John the Baptist, and Peter as who knows. I can't understand how anyone could ever end a prayer that way, if it's true. The beat goes on, and it just gets stranger.  (reply to this post)

RE: Trinity?
The guys on the exFYG who are still "in" deny this as being "bull".

True, the Family doesn’t believe that kind of crap. Instead they believe that there are evil demons and devils called Pan, Bacchus, Selvegion and Apotheon who are trying their damnedest to stop the Family. They also listen to the advice and guidance of their new spirit helpers Cyrene and Natalia who want to help the Family learn to use the new weapons and the use power of the keys.

Which reminds me, we haven’t heard from Abrahim or Ivan Ivanovitch in a long time, have we?

RE: Trinity?
You have to be kidding, is that true? It's getting a little bizarre now isn't it?

re.gifCarla, June 2, 2002, 04:06
RE: Trinity?
As of last year they were praying claiming the "power of the keys" like Jesus gave them a set of keys that entitles the Fmaily to recieving more than the average person when praying. If the above is true it wouldn't suprise me, another new spice to see who's with it

RE: Trinity?
No, this new trinity thing isn't true. Their prayers end very similar to how they've always ended: "In Jesus' name, amen"

I learned...
i actually got in trouble for using "i learned." i was told that "i learned" made it sound like i had it down pat, was maybe proud. "you should use something like, 'the thing that spoke to me...' because it's more humble..." which i did use & never once used anything else after that... i think.
i just wrote what they wanted to hear. i was so tired all the time that i would complain about not getting enough word time, & then sleep when i got it.
i'd lay on my bed, facing the wall & hold the gn in front of my face with my eyes closed & turn the page every 10 minutes or so.
i aslo found i could just read the bold print at the beginning of every paragraph & thereby skip the 58 different ways of saying the same thing. i'd still get the shithead context of it all.  (reply to this post)

re.giffaeriraven, May 20, 2002, 12:56
RE: I learned...
I think that was the general concept that most of us used. I don't think I ever read the small print unless I had to read out loud, even then, if no one else was reading along, you can still skip a lot w/o them noticing...oh, if only they knew! ha.

RE: I learned...
For years, I tiptoed around, trying not to "glorify my flesh", trying to keep menopausal aunties happy and secure, trying never to utter even a vowel that might offend. Now, when I lose my temper, am direct or even rude, I can't help but be little proud that I'm finally standing up for myself.

RE: I learned...
I definitely agree! It's hard for me to get angry or to show I'm upset because of the way they brought us up. Anger meant punishment and who wanted that. Now when I'm angry, I talk about it and allow myself to feel the anger. It makes me happy because it's a big step in the healing process. "I'm also learning" (lol) that it's okay to be angry at people who have hurt me instead of always excusing their behavior.
