Getting Through : In Remembrance

Remembering Abe

from Cult Surfer - Friday, January 07, 2005
accessed 1818 times

In loving memory of our dear brother and friend Abe Braaten (aka Abu, Steve) who passed away 14 December, 2004, please join us to celebrate and remember his life. We are gathering in southern California, nearby Temecula, in Riverside County on Jan 15, Saturday, for a memorial party and fund raiser in Abe’s honor. There will be a resident D.J., open bar and a raffle, just as Abe would have it. All proceeds will go to his wife, Yoko, and 2 sons who succeed him. Yoko’s ambition is to move from Japan and reside in the US where she’ll eventually settle with her family while pursuing her on-going career in the education field. All support is welcomed.

Regards,

China, Phil, Angie, John and Sam

P.S. We are expecting over 100 participants. Please bring your dancing shoes!!

For the memorial, please R.S.V.P. at Directions and details will be provided to individual participants.

We wanted to thank everyone that attended Abe's memorial. We were able to raise a couple $1000 for Abe's wife Yoko and the boys.

Much appreciation to all.

Love,

John, China, Sam and Angie

Wether Abu and I were arm wrestling or just getting into mischief, we always had fun. It was easy to click with Abu. He had a free spirit that was very contagious. I only wish that I could have seen him one more time. It goes without saying that he will always be in our hearts.

J.P (Paul)

P.s My deepest condolences to Phil and China. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at jp2g4u@hotmail.com

this is a sad and terible moment for us all. i would like to put forth and idea. we are having the memorial for abe but over the past years i can think of over ten people that have killed them selves. let us put donw here all the names that come to mind as far back as the man's own kid aaron and ending with daivdito/ricky.

let us remember them all and maybe come together in this moment of grief and grieve that this shit stops now and dosen't get carried away. many of us have shity family support. i don't speak for my self as i am blessed with a great suport network thru my fam. but... if we have to bind together and help eachother let's do it. we are all some of us have. most of us don't share our experiences with other. i don't have any answers but i think it may be time to reach out and hold eachother up.

it is all just so fucked. lets come to gether for a bit and put an end to the madness.

I went to the funeral in Kobe and tried to contribute with what I had then. Is there still a need? If there is contact me by Email and I'll try to see what I can do
