Big Love

Did you catch the last episode of the HBO series Big Love?

I was in my hotel room the other night, too tired to flip off the HBO show Big Love - it’s about a polygamist family in Utah. One of the characters on the show wants to add another wife to his family so the put it to a vote (the husband and wives all have to agree on who they bring into the marriage). It turns out that the new wife used to be in ... THE FAMILY ... so that makes her too weird and they vote her out. LOL. So basically even the weird off-shoots of Mormonism that believe in polygamy think the family is too weird to mess with.

Believe It.

Yes, I watch the show religiously. No pun intended. The characters are modern and half normal, just living in polygamy.

And come to find out even polygamists look down their nose at the Family. The hushed silence and little gasp when Nicky answered Margie, who asked what the Family was, that is was a cult was perfect! The Family - even weirder than compound brought-up, polygamist practicing Mormons.

I heard a rumour that Matt and Tray wrote chef out of South Park by making him join a cult, sounding quite like TF. ???

the chef thing was about scientology, he quit the show because they were making fun of scientology. how dare they make fun, after all a major religion that belives in aliens is *not* funny.(reply to this comment

I remember reading a novel, just before I left TF. I think it might have been a Grisham. It was about these kids who'd been brought up in a weird cult, and taught how to go and be perfect house-servants, and then they had a plan to sort of destroy the world through terrorism... I remember the cult in the book put on a good front and said they were all about natural organic products, etc. That book mentioned The Children Of God as well. Anyone know what it is?

it sounds like you're referring to Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk who also gave us Fight Club. It was a brillian book, although I don't remember TF getting honorable mention.

Lol. Here's a link for those, like me, who don't watch this show.
