Going to Europe........

Free Beer?

Hey XXXers ...I'm currently at that point where the job/school thing has lost it's charm so I'm heading over to Europe for a couple months to figure some stuff out & get the funk out of the States. It's my first time over there & I don't really know what I'm gonna be doing or If I'll even like it, but I've tasted their beer & anyone that makes something that perfect must have answers to life's big questions.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone living over there would want to meet up, have a brew & talk shop, show me around or whatever. I'm flying into England in late Sept & hope to go thru France, Germany, Hollandaise & maybe Eastern Europe? If you guys have any tips or suggestions as well, my virgin butt would appreciate it. Thanks!

PS. I grew up in Japan & most of my repressed memories were from the HCS, I left in 96' & now live in Seattle.....not that any of that matters anymore :)

As for the $ ....I'm just working my arse off all summer long, my GF left me & my lease is over at the end of this month so combined....I'm able to save pretty well. I'm not gonna be big pimping over there....I'm thinking about bringing a bike & doing the whole tent thing for abit. It's still 2 months away so I'm just getting ideas right now on what I can expect. But yeah.....our dollar sucks right now....damn republicans :((reply to this comment

That's great! 2 whole months. Are you the eldest of Silas' kids? The one with the dark hair or the one with the red hair? Remember Fukuoka how crazy that was with Mike & Crystal?

Holy Poopshoot.....Fuckuoka was a zoo. I hope Mike & Crystal are in some kind of witness protection program now? Probably a good idea for em.

Anywayz...ya I'm the oldest, turning 27 this year & it's scaring the bejesus out of me. I guess this is why I'm taking off for awhile, could this be some kind of pre mid life thing? I don't know.....I hope to get some perspective yada yada.... Or maybe I'll find some religion or cause or group or some easy way to answer all those questions. Anyone else have similar ambitions when they travelled? Is all the world just as insignificant & worthless as the US? I guess I'll find out ;)

PS. Did we get in a Fight there? Or was that some other Japanese kid? I think it might of been Peter, I was one of the "special" kids at that place.(reply to this comment

No this isn't Peter, although I do remember him well. My name was formerly, Tim, I just remember you were in Fukuoka. The world is all preetty much messed up but America seems to advertise it's messes the best to the rest of the world. Every single thing becomes an issue because of our media. (reply to this comment

If you want to really be a hedon and get away with it financially, head on over to Czech or eastern europe.

If you are a culture vulture then western europe is better.

There is plenty of culture in Eastern Europe. I'll be moving to Prague in a week, send a mail if you're there and we can meet up for some good ol' Czech beer. ;-)(reply to this comment

You are very welcome to stop by here in Stockholm, Sweden. You might as well travel on the train thru Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland to get a real taste of the Norse regions. The views are just fantastic.

I heard that Scandanavia will suck up my scrilla alot faster than the rest of europe.......is this just a rumor to keep out the bums & former cult kids? Or is there a econmicly friendly way to see the country w/o getting a 2nd mortgae on my bicycle? Thx for the help....(reply to this comment

How fun. I will be backpacking for a month, starting in stockholm-which was £4 one way fom the UK- from there you can ferry it to turku or helsinki-get a train north to see santa's groto on the north pole. You can ferry it to Tallin;Estonia, which is cheap as chips-also take the train down to Latvia, Lituania and Poland-where you'll get a good rate for your dollar. You can get cheap flights out of katowice, czech and berlin. Look at RyanAir online booking.

In Sweden, Finland and Estonia, cycling is the way to go as it is pretty flat.

Youth hostels are cheap and provide everything you need, as well as meeting other travelers. You can even book ahead.

Polish beer zywiec, is one of the best beers I've ever tasted.

lonely planet and rough guide (which you can find online or at a bookstore) are an excellant aid too!

Have a great trip!(reply to this comment
