Anyone attending on August 10th?

from Falcon - Monday, June 16, 2008

Hi, I'm looking into possible venues for the August 10th Memorial/ex-SGA get together in the San Diego area.

I'm wondering if anyone who is definitely or tentatively going to attend to please let me know either below, or through my or Julia McNeil's profile, as it would help to get a rough estimate so that I know how large a venue we need to secure. Also, to cover the renting costs, we might have to ask a 5$ fee per head, hope that's not asking too much?
The basic plan is a possible outdoor, informal memorial remembering our brothers and sisters who have passed away, and anyone who wants to say anything can do so. Then there will be a reception afterwards where people can mingle and catch up if they so wish.
There will also be a similar event taking place in London for those on that end of the pond. See the link below for the original write up on the memorial day.

Any news on the events?  I heard that there was a very low turn out at the London event--how did the LA & Uganda events turn out?  I searched for news articles but didn't come up with anything.  Thanks.

I was thinking of going to the London event as it's just about an hour from where I live, but in the end I didn't feel comfortable with it so didn't go. But I'd be interested in hearing about how it was from anyone who did go.(reply to this comment

If you want to see pics and videos of the three events you can view them by clicking on each location shown on the front page of the memorial site.

Are there any updates? Will this event happen this sunday? The original Teen Terror is not up for the emotional distress, but his brother hopes to attend. Rise International says it is in Huntington Beach, August 20th at the Red Barn. Anybody know what is happening August 10th?

Yes, it will be this Sunday the 10th (not the 20th) at 4PM at Red Horse Barn at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center (8381 Goldenwest St. Huntington Beach, CA. 92648).

Please let me know where it says August 20th as that is a definitely a mistake that needs to be corrected.

Here are the other two confirmed event locations and time

London, United Kingdom
* When: August 10, 2008 4PM
* Where: Purple Turtle Bar in Camden
65 Crowndale Rd London, NW1 1TN United Kingdom

Gulu, Uganda
When: August 10, 2008 8:30AM - 5PM
Where: Kaunda Ground, Gulu, Uganda

Hi, the event is still on for the 10th at the Red Horse Barn in Huntington Beach. It starts at 4:00pm and goes till around 11:00pm. The first hour will be a couple speeches/dedication, and then there will be an open bar and music, and people can feel free to catch up, mingle, drink, dance, whatever they feel like. We have confirmed close to 100 people. Look forward to seeing you there.(reply to this comment

Much the same for the UK. The nearest tube to the Purple Turtle is Mornington Crescent.

See you there. (reply to this comment

We're just putting together the flyer now for the even with the exact details which should be ready in a week. The first part of the memorial will be meeting at Hyde Park near speakers corner at 1:30 pm on August 10. After the remembrance there will be the reception social event starting at 4:00pm at the Purple Turtle in Camden Town open til 1:00pm (for those who wish to stay that long). There will be some acoustic acts and bands playing, also open mike, if anyone would like to play or be part. More details coming soon.(reply to this comment
