from ella - Wednesday, January 25, 2006 accessed 1062 times we are having a rallie to tell bush to step down and take his hole regamin with him at pioneer square and in our communities!! TUESDAY JAN 31 4PM PIONEER SQUARE and COMMUNITY CENTERS AND NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGHOUT PORTLAND World Can't WaitOutraged people from all sectors of society are increasingly disenfranchised by this administration. From our immoral Iraqi occupation, to openly advocating torture, to illegal wiretaps on Americans, to environmental destruction, time is simply running out. Finally, there is a Nationwide movement calling for Bush to Step Down. This movement launched on November 2nd, 2005 from over 65 cities nationwide, and over 200 campuses participated in a walkout in support of the call. Now, there are chapters springing up all over the country full of people dedicated to making this a reality. On Tuesday, January 31 Bush will deliver his State of the Union speech. We are calling a State of Emergency, however, and intend to bring the noise and drown out Bush's lies with our call demanding: BUSH STEP DOWN AND TAKE YOUR PROGRAM WITH YOU. At 4PM, in homes, neighborhoods, community centers and in Pioneer Square, Oregonians (and Washingtonians from nearby Vancouver) will gather together and build bridges between likeminded members of the community. There will be music, speakers, and performances expressing our state of the community, and our demand for Bush to step down. Then, we will band pots, pans, drums, and sing, chant and shout to bring the noise to drown out Bush's lies. From Pioneer Square, four March Leaders will lead people into each quadrant of Portland. Also, people from the house and neighborhood parties, including the gathering at the community center at SE 62nd and Duke will march around the neighborhoodsin their area, perhaps meeting up with the larger marches so that those watching King George on the babblebox will hear what is going on outside, and their attention will be focused on what is going on in their neighborhood instead of what media is streaming through the TV. Then, the marches will end at 7PM. On the east side of the river, the marches will converge on a restaurant/bar where people can meet each other and celebrate their involvement in a significant expression. They can also discuss plans for the next step. STATE OF EMERGENCY Drive Out the Bush Regime |
