On a side note: does any one have any theories as to why Southern California and Texas are so thick with current and former cult members? Could it be the warm weather and general Bible Belt wackiness?

Maybe because the COG was started mostly in California and Texas, so it only makes sense that a lot of our parents are from those two states.(reply to this comment

Here’s my guess for those of us in Southern California: A lot of us grew up overseas. Our only view of the US was from movies, many of which are made in, & often feature Southern California. Those of us being US citizens moved to California because of perceived familiarity. Don’t forget that Southern California has great weather & lots of coast line—attractive to most people.

I’m guessing that most of those (but not all) spread out in the rest of the country stayed close to where they grew up, or they were already familiar with this country so are comfortable anywhere here. Perhaps there was a large number of homes already in Texas, or a large number of soon-to-be ex-culties already there.

Also, coming from overseas—not to mention a sex cult—it’s helpful to move somewhere already open-minded.

I knew her briefly in Taiwan years back. Isn´t one of her parents from Mexico or something?

You talking about Trish? She is tall, dark hair. Has a sister called Lelah? Mother lives in China?
