Maya, I don't even know what to say to you. This article made me so angry and I feel for you and your brother. I wish you all the best and I am sure that your brother would do the same for you, but I know he would also want you to live a good life and be happy too. Take care of yourself.

This site is just making me too sad lately. I need to take a break. Keep singing and dreaming, beautiful girl. xx

This was absolutely wrenching to read and left me crying. My heart goes out to you. The attitude your mom has taken is so typical of that which the cult inculcates. Everything for the greater group good. Suppress any emotions, it certainly has nothing to do with the "leave the ninety and nine an go after the one stray which is lost" idea. I do not know where to begin, but if I were you I think my inclination would be to inform my parents that I am going to try to get 20/20 t o sponsor a piece like the one they did for the mom getting her kids from Thailand, and then do it. At this point I do not see many other options. I will help you try to contact them although I have no media experience. There are some other ex members who might be more in the know on this stuff. I truelly wish you all the best.(reply to this comment

Yea, TFI's motto is more like feed the whole flock to the wolves to save the shepherds own ass. fucking bastards.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your brother, something similar happened to me when my older sister went missing for several years, we couldn't find her and we feared she was dead. She had, like your brother, gone completely out of control and was doing a lot of drugs and drinking way too much. I know how much this must hurt and I my heart truly goes out to you. I wish you the best of luck, I wish I could be of some help to you.(reply to this comment

I was chatting with someone the other night and they mentioned that they seemed to remember a Zine or some other “family” publication (dated approximately around year 2000) mentioning a kid that “passed away in China”
Does anyone (still in the family at that time) recall THIS OR, remember any details......or better yet, DOES any one have a copy of this?
The reason I am asking is because my brother has been missing for many years now, and my “family” has not given me any solid answers, nor have they made any sort of satisfactory effort into looking for him...(not to mention their attempts to discourage my inquiring--from over here. ) I have been told repeatedly by my “family” that pretty much, I can assume he is no longer alive.
I am wondering why they would so easy assume and (settle with this conclusion) with out any solid proof. I’m sure they know more then I do regarding what happened, because, I was not there at the time. I have tried repeatedly to question those who were there but, all I am given are vague answers and/or demonstrations of (selective) amnesia, followed by phrases such as “He is missing But, most likely no longer alive!”...followed by silence, or tears, or defensive anger (at one point the embassy inquired –on my behalf –his father who deliberately lied, telling them Eman was “fine”-- I intern, inquired about why he would lie and my mother gave some lame ass excuse regarding “security” ---sickeing!

I wrote to a few consulates, and I did end up talking to the c.i.a --i also sent e-mails to some senators--non were very helpful...(sympathetic but not helpful—It seems no one (so far) is keen on dealing with or questioning the Chinese government regarding this matter)

If you can help with this or any info please reply. thanks

How utterly horrible. Have you tried xfamily.org? They seem to have all the publications. Damnit, my parents just threw all theirs away about 2 years ago, or I would have searched through them for you.

I do think though, that your parents would tell you if they had been there or knew for sure. More likely they received a 'prophecy' or something from him in 'heaven'.

(of course I don't know them, just speculating about family members I do know, I haven't met any that would keep their child's death a secret from another child just because they were an ex member, or even an 'enemy'. Even Berg's death was announced.)(reply to this comment

Just tried searching on there. Very difficult. Maybe using your parent's family names would help.(reply to this comment

Thanks for looking Rainy, that seems like a good idea, i will try and look too. My mom and Eman's father have changed their names so many times....god knows what they call themselves now...it probably wasn't about my brother but i thought i'd look into it just in case...(reply to this comment

If it's the eman that I am thinking of, he was living in Mexico for a long time....Mexico City to be exact. I think he's still there actually, or around those parts....don't know if it's the same one, but he was born in 84 and has a dad named matt. I remember his dad had a huge gap between his front teeth and typical family uncle glasses

It doesn't sound like my brother but I won't write it off just yet--what elce do you know about him? When was he living in Mexico? As far as I know my brother never lived there--at least not before 2000. His dad's name is Matt and does were glasses but no gap.(reply to this comment

My brother has dark curly (brown) hair, brown eyes . He has a small round (dot like) birth mark in the center of his earlobe (I think it’s his right earlobe but I’m not certain). He is tall —I don’t know how tall because I haven’t seen him in over 5 years. He was fairly slender last I saw him. He was born in 1984 .—go figure. “Eman ” is not his legal name. He had no copy of any legal documents (i.e.: past port, birth certificate etc.) when he disappeared. At the time of his disappearance he was under our parents guardianship (who are currently still in the family). He may go by another name—who knows. Our parents think (or say) he may be dead but have no proof ---I doubt it!!!! Any Information may help no matter how trivial it may seem ----Please reply if you think you can help!!!!
