Getting Support : For the Geeks
No one chats anymore? | from snowhite - Tuesday, March 25, 2003 accessed 1442 times Where is everyone??! Is it just me or every time I come here there is no one in the chatroom? I usually come here at different hours during the day and it seems that no one really chats anymore. Does anyone have the same feeling? Or is that the thing to do? Did it get too boring? Or I just am never on at the right time? |

I did a search on the net for the very reason of finding a site like this so I could get in touch with others who have or are experierncing the same things as I am, leaving TF , getting set up, learning about life and I am still hanging out in the empty chat room in hopes of meeting up with someone. Is there another hang out a yahoo group or msn group maybe to chat with you all? (reply to this comment)

For me, anyway: 1)The room crashes waay too often, often taking down the referring browser along with it. 2) Once it (client-side) has crashed, it won't let you relogin because "that nickname is already in use", the server being too stupid to notice that you've already left. Closing the crashed browser, then relogging in and hitting the "log out of chatroom" buttom merely logs you out of the site, but still doesn't remove you from the chatroom. (I've tried this on several browsers and OSes) This results in a lot of apparently-there users, who are in fact not. 3) And if you're really determined to have a conversation, you can't just simply log in with another chat nickname like you used to be able to, but you must complete the signup process and create a whole new user profile, then try to log in again and hope you don't crash again immmediately. I don't know about for anyone else, but the technical difficulties are just too big a pain in the ass some (most) days. Jules, would you please consider having reserved nicknames only (retaining anonymous capability) for the chatroom instead of mandatory logins? This wouldn't *solve* said problems, but would do much to alleviate the symptoms thereof. Thanx a mil! L. (roughnecks 1, 2, and 3) (reply to this comment)
