From neez Tuesday, December 04, 2007, 23:28 (Agree/Disagree?) Do you have a link for that other one? Only asking to make sure it's the same one(the one that I already signed), because that other list had a load of names in it already. I remember there were a couple of them going around, you'd just need to merge them. And I'm guessing a lot of people on both lists haven't seen this update yet.(reply to this comment) |

from Haunted Thursday, November 29, 2007 - 14:34 (Agree/Disagree?) This list has been requested from me and I'd like to update it with all of the new people on this site. Please pass it on. Thank you. It is not necessary to place your full names. Initials are fine as well as DOB please. Also, is you'd like to add anything please let me know. Again, the purpose of the list is to combat the general dismissal given to the press by the Family International that we are but a "handful" of Ex-members who ever experienced or came into contact with any abuse which was not "widespread" but rather "isolated incidents" according to their spokesperson. Thank you, Joni Jacobs (reply to this comment)

from porceleindoll Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 18:35 (Agree/Disagree?) E.L. 1969 I cannot claim to have been either sexually nor physically abused in the Family (or any other time), but I can claim that I was denied the right to education as well as used to support the Homes I was in with my labor as a minor (and child) to either provide funds for the Home, or take care of its children or other such services so that others could go out to raise necessary funds. I was also restricted from contact with my Mother for 10 years straight, as well as the Family doing its best to break up the 'clique' of my siblings and father while we were all in the group. from banal_commentator Friday, January 21, 2005 - 15:53 (Agree/Disagree?) In addition to these crimes listed, we were ALL (as in ever single one of us) persuaded to mislead authorities when under scrutiny. Adults completely misrepresented our lives, even telling outright lies about what we did on a day to day basis and staging mock classrooms to pretend like we had more then an hour of school a day, or hiding people to in basements for hours to make the "homes" look less full. At the HCS, to make the children look educated when authorities came 'Auntie Phoenix' would ask the 'students' a question and every kid was told to raise their hand. "If you know the answer raise only one finger, if you dont know the answer keep your palm open and raise your hand anyway." 'Auntie Pheonix' said, "well, I'll just say the answer anyway, since all you guys know it," when each of their kids raised there hands with an open palm. There were lists of questions that parents were told to ask their children and that we were supposed to memorize responses to, in case we were asked by authorities (this was the first time that I learned that I had been to a doctor, had never begged for money, had never not had an education, had seen my parents more than once a week. For others it was the first time that they learned that they were never molested, beaten, or treated like a prisoner. Because we were told these things, the past was erased and it was all true..........NOT!!!) I can not tell you the lengths we went through, and the tricks that we turned to make our lives appear somewhat 'normal.' Zerby and Co. even sent out a childrens series called "Victory in Babylon" a fictional tale and preparation for if the cults children were ever taken away by social workers. It was chock full of scenarios and what they wanted the kids to say or do, all under the guise of Jesus' still sweet voice of course. They dipicted social workers as gay or lesbian child molestors, portrayed the toys that the children might receive as silly pointless gifts, trying to contrast the cult kids in there from other children that were there by depicting abuse as only defined by being beaten black and blue daily as portrayed through one little boy; Sammy has a thought "My parents are nothing like his parents" They also had a very climatic scene where one girl being questioned by social services, has a dramatic, poignant breakdown, shouting her lack of abuse and love for Jesus and her parents. Heres a bit I remember (and I have a very good memory)from the story that brought on the angry burst from the girl..... Social Services (ss): do you ever get together and have parties? Young cult kid (ycd): yes, sometimes we have gypsy night ss: and what happens on these gypsy nights? ycd: we dress up and have cake and icecream ss: then what happens? ycd: we sing and play songs and stuff ss: do you ever dance? ycd: sometimes ss: how do yu dance? ycd: we dance together and have fun ss: do you dance with adults? ycd: no ss: do you ever take of your clothes? ycd: no, of course not ss: what happens after gypsy night? ycd: we go to bed ss: where do you sleep? ycd: in my bed or with my mom ss: does anyone else sleep with your mom? ycd: sometimes my little brother ss: does anyone else? ycd: no, of course not ss: has anyone ever touched you in a way that made you feel bad? ycd: no ss: you can tell us. We know that someone has told you what to say when we ask you these questions ycd: no one told me anything. I am telling the truth. Why are you saying this? I have never been abused. I love my parents. I hate it here, I want to go home.... Can you imagine how calculating "W.S" must be to come up with a full series planting these ideas in childrens heads, manipulated thier minds all in the guise of a happy little story. Its disgusting to remember, not only abuse, but the lentghs they went to try to hide it. One thing still sticks in my head as the point they were trying to make and part of the dialog from the social workers and the young girl "When asked if you wish you had a normal life, respond by saying 'because I don't watch tv and eat junk food, this means I'm not normal.'" The little part that they edited from the story was when the social workers really should have said "No kid, we think you arent normal because you dont go to school, have a midevil disease inflict you twice a year because you never have gone to a doctor, because you dance and take of your clothes in front of a camera and a room full of people, because you are part of a cult that encourages and practies child molestation and even full on sex with children, because you beg on the street daily, because you see your parents about 3 hours a week and when you do they're involved in an orgy, because you are deprived of food when you have an opinion, because you arent allowed to speak for months if you complain about not liking liver, because you are beaten publically when one suspects you are possessed by devils for talking during word time, because when you grow up you will have a child at 16 because you were encouraged to "go for the gold." Around that time you will begin masturbating to a deceased Judeo-christian deity. So no, I dont think your not normal for not watching TV and not eating junk food; all that would make you is a republican californian" (reply to this comment)

Born early 70's. Thank you for doing this. *** "I will never not tell even when my tongue gives way to the scissors of the empty air." From Wounded Thursday, January 20, 2005, 13:14 (Agree/Disagree?) Hi venusbutterfly, I will look for my copy of the poem, which is unpublished still, and post it and the author's name if the author OKs it. My copy also has the name of the legend, taken from Ovid's metamorphoses and is the myth of how a certain kind of bird came to exist, I can't recall which. The poems' subtitle is "On What Turns One Into a Bird." However, while those two lines from the poem echo with my determination to be heard, I would never agree with what happens at the myth's ending. It was a legend told back in the days of the Greeks' empire and did not have a pacifist ending. (reply to this comment) |
