Getting Real : Tea for Two
Life is not like the movies | from Muzungu - Monday, October 27, 2008 accessed 350 times Just woke up and this came out of nowhere. Shirley Temple with her plastic doll smile skipping inside a black and white fairytale. Gene Kelley tap-dancing across the television with his sweetheart in a puffy pink cotton candy dress. “Singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I’m happy again.” A glorious feeling I never had. I want an umbrella to shield me from the weeping sky. “My daddy has to go away, but he’ll be back most any day, Any moment I will see, my daddy coming home to me.” He never comes and I am left with only a grey angry heaven and my tears mingling with the raindrops. “Raindrops keep falling on my head But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turning red.” I blink and it’s the same nameless road. Different countries, same road. Cracked, potholed, third world roads. Different coloured natives, but always the same colourless road, leading nowhere, leading to a fate I cannot control. Life is not like the movies. There is no happy ending. |

| | | from Muzungu Thursday, October 30, 2008 - 16:35 (Agree/Disagree?) Geesh, one must explain away creative writing on here it seems. Alright people, this was written as a childhood memory, watching movies (that we were allowed to see) and what I thought watching them, as a child. Key words here: AS A CHILD (reply to this comment)

(Agree/Disagree?) Hope this is past sentiment Muzungu. Life instead can be wonderful, I still feel like I am on a "Road Trip" sometimes, bizarre things happen to me yet I keep pluggin' away like it's my last. I remember 20 years ago like it was yesterday, the crying, the emptiness, realizing I was raised in a cult so bizarre it only consisted of 10000 and would always ask God why? Why me? now I know things just happen, Sh** just happens, the best you can do is scrap the Sh** off your boots and keep on plodding. (reply to this comment)

(Agree/Disagree?) Unlike the movies... There can be a happy ending, if you make one. (reply to this comment)
| from conan Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 13:06 (Agree/Disagree?) You're watching the wrong movies perhaps (reply to this comment)
| | | From conan Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 16:15 (Agree/Disagree?) Really? I missed the inference! My point is that there are other, more depressing movies you can compare your life to, rather than dwelling on obviously positivity oriented child's films.(reply to this comment) |
