Getting Real : Faith No More
Insight into Islam and other religions | from TTIOT - Wednesday, October 04, 2006 accessed 1431 times This is information that most people do not know about. In one of my courses in my studies which was called "People socially and culturally", our class went on a field study to visit the jewish museum in our city and the mosque. At the mosque we had about an hours lecture about Islam and about how that whole religion works etc. We were later given a chance to ask the mullah, or lecturer, about any questions that we might have on the subject. So I raised my hand and asked a very serious and precise question which was "who wrote the Koran, was it Mohammed the prophet?" and the answer that I got was "NO. Mohammed was illitterate. He could neither read nor write. The Koran was written by several different people and the writings were compiled into one book known as the Koran" In that same moment of receiving that much expected answer which he gave to the whole gathering there of about 50 people, I made a mental note of immediatly throwing out their whole concept into the trash. The same answer is given about the Bible and the books of Buddah etc. The mind boggling question one may ask himself is, how in hell can anyone give their mind, body and spirit to a religion and teachings that aren`t even written by their great spiritual leaders? People today have gotten more and more intellectual and this kind of stuff just doesn`t float anymore in todays society no matter how hard they may try. They need to realise that its over. It will never come to anything anymore like it did in the past. Its just unbelievable how people can be so duped, just unbelievable. Its downright insane! People need to wake up and realise that religion is just philosophy. There are oodles of different philosophies and books about all kinds of stuff out there. The only way these major religions have become so popular is all about the competition. Its a product. Who ever has the best strategy and power, influence and money are able to push their philosophy to the limelight until something else takes its place. Philosophy is just a bunch of nice words. Its poetry, "wisdom", romantics etc. It is easily swallowed by the youth of the world, who it turn will teach it to their children and so forth. They don`t know any better. They of course listen to mommy and daddy, right? They dont get a chance to try anything else. In most cases its too late, the damage has already set in and the evil circle keeps going on and on. As you may have noticed, religion only seems to thrive and work at peace time and when its wartime nothing helps. Nothing is fair when war and/or catastrophies come around everything and everyone gets slaughterd. You may also have noticed that religion is strongest in all of the poor countries like southamerica, certain asian countries and africa. In the more developed countries like the states and europe religion is gradually fading away like an echo. |

| from AnnaH. Thursday, October 12, 2006 - 08:07 (Agree/Disagree?) TTIOT I just wanted to apologize for being such a jerk to you lately. I actually think that your article is ok actually. The other me is sometimes a bit 2 sided as youve noticed. Dont pay any attention to the other me. I never really mean what I say when the other me -AnnaH is talking. So remember everytime the other me says something sassy or negative or if im trying to play smart, pay no attention to it. OK? This goes for everyone. Have a nice day ;) (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | | | | | From vix Friday, October 13, 2006, 02:01 (Agree/Disagree?) It's Sean. I've kept out of this for the most part because I think the whole thing is stupid, but I'm really getting fed up. I am going to vote for useless, un-funny, un-intelligent comments by any of his alter-egos to go to the Trailer Park from now on. Perhaps that will discourage the perpetuation of such overwhelmingly inferior threads as we have been seeing of late. (reply to this comment) |
| | | | From Reallynow Friday, October 13, 2006, 02:17 (Agree/Disagree?) I sincerely agree with you, but I do want to make it clear that I am neither Sean nor Ana. If you do not believe me, than look at my comments under psychiatry vs. possession... However, it was Sean when he used the name as "Reallynow." with the period and maybe Ana uses ReallyNow? I don't know but they are not me. Anyways, with that said, I am indeed sick of both of them bickering.(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From vix Friday, October 13, 2006, 02:27 (Agree/Disagree?) Heh, damn. I think I am the one who's confused. I thought he'd registered a variation of your nick. I guess he didn't. But I think you'll agree that my point still stands. I've tried to be gracious but Sean has worn out his welcome and if he persists in his ridiculous commentary I will be voting every single comment of his into the TP. (reply to this comment) |

Thursday, October 12, 2006, 21:53 (Agree/Disagree?) I sincerely apologise AnnaH. I haven`t had my meds this week. Plus I was born with an extremely small penis. I mean it`s really pathetic, it`s fucking microscopic. And don`t even ask me about my testicles. My doctor told me to fuck off and I haven`t been able to steal any medication from work yet, so please just ignore me. And yes TTIOT, and Hmmmm are both me. I have several other aliases on this site, in fact I have so many that I forget which one I`m using sometimes. Hey did you guys know cows say mooooo? I`ll write an article about it soon. Watch this space.(reply to this comment) |
| | From Seanswede Friday, October 13, 2006, 00:06 (Agree/Disagree?) Respons to AnnaH (using username: SeanSwede.) Note: with a period. Ooh so your a bad girl uh? Mmm I like that. Thank you AnnaH for appreciating my work. I see that your desperation has taken a "wrong turn" by using anatomical connotations in your defense. A last desperate attempt to save face or were you just explaining to the whole world that you are a hermaphrodite. By the way AnnaH aka (desperate housewife) which side of you was it that you were portraying this time? (reply to this comment) |
| | From AnnaH Friday, October 13, 2006, 08:29 (Agree/Disagree?) Actually, that wasn't me. I don't know who did that. As much as I've had to stoop to your level just to argue with you because you can't have an intelligent discourse, I wouldn't steal your name. The thought occurred to me when you first stole mine, but it was just too pathetic that I gave up the idea. However, I appreciate whoever's joke it was. I got quite a laugh. Just so you know...I'm not married, and I work and go to school. I'm pretty much at home only to sleep. =)(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | | | from Jedran Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 08:27 (Agree/Disagree?) Are you sure your class title didn't have kulturally spelled with a "c" as in "culturally?" (reply to this comment)
| from (H)(\/)(\/) Monday, October 09, 2006 - 13:55 (Agree/Disagree?) Something my old boss used to say. "When you ASSUME you make an ASS-show of U and ME." The assumption that any information "recorded second hand is wrong" is just plain simplistic, narrow-minded and foolish. As Anna pointed out below, such assumption implies that first hand teachings are right. "This is information that most people do not know about." How do you know that? Did you survey MO users? Or does MOST as used here refer to MOST people on the planet. If so, it would be such an obvious statement, which only serves to make you look totally retarded. (reply to this comment)
| from AnnaH Monday, October 09, 2006 - 10:16 (Agree/Disagree?) You Moron! That's one of the worst points I've ever heard. So because Mohammed didn't actually pick up a pen and paper(or whatever the hell they were using back then) and physically write out the Koran himself, that means it's all a lie and we shouldn't take it seriously? Ever heard of an oral tradition? Much of history comes from this. People would pass down poems, stories, songs by memorizing them and reciting them in length. Homer(no, not Simpson) is one of the most famous examples of this. He is the author of the Iliad, a major insight into the events of the Battle of Troy, which is presented as literature. To take the inverse of your argument(which I'm aware is a logical fallacy), that would mean that if someone did physically write the book of their religion, then it must be true. Well then, ever heard of Joseph Smith? Founder of the Church of the Latter Day Saints? He wrote, or should we say translated, the Book of Mormon as appeared to him on the Golden Plates aided by the two stones of Urim and Thummim. However, later in his life he merely dictated to his wife, so I guess only the first half is true. God, you are such a moron. It's obscure little "facts" like this that are discrediting people who try to disprove the bible or other religious texts. "Oh, because in Hebrew 'virgin' can also mean 'girl', than Jesus wasn't conceived immaculately and the whole bible is a lie!" You'd have to be a fool to take such an argument seriously. (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | From AnnaH Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 22:13 (Agree/Disagree?) Bwahhahahaha! You call that a rebuttal? You're such a moron! Oh man, if I had any remaining doubts that you were SeanSwede, they sure flew out the window with that remark. You are too dumb for words, so I'm just going to keep laughing. Oh, the logical fallacies! Priceless. Okay, I'm done. However....to not commit the same mistake you made in not addressing your argument and just attacking your character, like you did, I'm gonna tell what is wrong with that little bullshit string of words of yours (I don't why I don't just give up on you, I guess it's because I'm young and feisty). First of all, the BIGGEST logical fallacy that anyone can commit is, and you constantly do, is an Ad Hominem and what I just said above: NOT addressing the argument or content, and focusing on a person's character, personal life, or relationships to refute their position. Why is this a poor argument? Because what the fuck does it have to do with anything? Nevermind that nothing I said was pro-religion or pro-philosophy. All I did was tell you how stupid your argument was. Did you even read what I said or did you just hear, "Anti-me, Pro-Religion!" Which brings me to the next logical fallacy...assumming that because I was against your anti-religion position, that I must be pro-religion. This is known as a False Dilemma. Why? Because it assume that there are only one of two choices, or one of two positions, when in life, in reality, there usually more than two. I'm neither anti-religion or pro-religion, and nothing in my comment to you reflected either of those positions. Can't a person recognize the pros and cons of religion? Why should not hating it mean loving it? I took a completely neutral stance, and simply refuted your simple, irrelevant idea that if someone cannot read or write or did not actually write the text of their religion than no one should follow them. Not everyone got to go to school back then. Don't they deserve their chance too? Now, I don't what the name of the logical fallacy is you made when you assumed that because I'm pro-religion(or at least you're stupid enough to think so) that I'm for the Family, but I'm pretty sure it is one, and if it's not one than I'm gonna submit this example to whoever makes the list. For further information and reference for the next ridiculous conclusion you come to, go to Wikipedia's entry on Logical Fallacies. You could save us a lot of grief. They might even have it in Swedish! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_fallacies(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | From Caveman Wednesday, October 11, 2006, 11:54 (Agree/Disagree?) I say Sean, your feeble attempts at saving face do more to embarrass you than they do to assist you in regaining any sort of intellectual or social decorum. Indeed, the previous poster was spot-on in her assessment of your rebuttal, exhibiting neither sign nor symptom of the loss of her “facilities”. You, however, continue to bolster your arguments using loose associations and flighty ideas that rarely fit the point you are attempting to convey. Perhaps you should endeavor to refocus your attention to the debate of your “subject matter”. tHat what me ThiNk! (reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | From AnnaH Wednesday, October 11, 2006, 20:01 (Agree/Disagree?) So you assume that the people who don't comment on your articles are in favor of them? Or do you just get your alter-egos to comment on them and boost yourself up? You are so pathetic, Thor. This is kinda like that time when we caught you plagiarizing that stupid article about "What men really mean" as your own work and then tried to take the moral high ground by changing your article to an apology. Oh, and don't think that not using apostrophes or accent marks is gonna convince us either. (reply to this comment) |
| | From AndyH Wednesday, October 11, 2006, 13:10 (Agree/Disagree?) Listen TTIOT, whoever you are. You have the same problem Sean does, lashing out at criticism. If you really don't give a damn, then don't sweat those comments. I know I've flamed Sean in the past, but if you look at most comments about him, they are actually very friendly and helpful. I think you'd get a lot further by listening and rising above petty flame wars. Right on? Right on.(reply to this comment) |
| | From AnnaH Wednesday, October 11, 2006, 11:48 (Agree/Disagree?) Oops, that was stupid of me. It was supposed to be "At least I didn't pull it out of my ass." You know, I might have been embarrassed by that if it were not for the fact that your sentence should have read: "Whoa, Folks! I think she's losing it." "Loosing" is not a word. I think you mean loosening which means the opposite of tightening, as in loosening one's pants. If you were in my high school english class you would have lost 15% of your grade on a paper for making that no-excuse grammar error. Although, you could have just skipped that entirely and just said, "Hey Pot, this is Kettle! You're black!"(reply to this comment) |
| | | | from (="=) HVV Monday, October 09, 2006 - 07:32 (Agree/Disagree?) Here's congratulating SeanSwede and all his alterego's for learning that Mohammed did not write the Quran. Hip hip hooray for learning new things. I hope he enjoys his next field trip as well. (reply to this comment)
| from exister Monday, October 09, 2006 - 07:09 (Agree/Disagree?) Yeah, only an ill-informed Swede would assume that religion is fading away in America. Have you been paying attention for the last 6 years? Evengelical Christianity continues to grow like a festering tumor in the US. (reply to this comment)
| | | | | from Reallynow Monday, October 09, 2006 - 00:59 (Agree/Disagree?) Hi Sean Swede. I like your new name. I know that it is you. (reply to this comment)
