Getting Real : Faith No More

We were screwed

from jolifam77 - Tuesday, November 09, 2004

I can hardly believe that the first 21 years of my life were a lie.

Even now the very songs I used to sing and love, I'm finding out more and more that they were ripped off melodies from old 60's and 70's songs. I'm eternally depressed that my young brain was subjected to an endless barrage of lies. My psyche is currently screwed up; I can hardly cope living in the real world.

I know that misery loves company. If there's any former members in their 20s in or around DC let me know, let's commiserate, eh?

All the best and keep up the good work with this great site!

Hey man, I completely understand what your going through. I left when I was much older 22, and got to a point of desperation where I was willing to do anything just to get out of that cult. I was lucky to have my personal family to live with for a little while to get my feet off the ground. Feelings of loneliness to the point of suicide is very understandable. In my case, thinking of the past or trying to reconnect with other family members for support can be devastating. There are many people who in their early adulthood have to move away from the situation because of economic reasons such as farm kids in poor countries who find that their whole life has literally amounted to nothing much like us, and just have a pick up pieces and move on. Making friends outside of the cult and not ex-members are essential to your emotional health especially getting a good roomate to help avoid being alone. If you've been raised around a bunch of people such as in TF it might be very hard to live by yourself. Anyway enough preachin' I feel ya tho, and wish you luck,
