Common sense

I think we all should be proud of ourselves for getting on with our lives. It isn?t easy, and many if not all of us are still struggling with issues of the past. I don?t anymore, but I?m sure that some people still think that they might be making a bad choice by not being in the cult. I was so brainwashed to believe that they minute I stepped out, I would be struck by lightning. I remember the first car I bought had a problem. The first thing I thought was, ?Oh, no! I?m being cursed!? But the truth of the matter was the water pump needed changing. It was that simple. I used common sense and I found relief. I almost drove myself crazy so many times, but I took a step back. I thought about things reasonably and realized that this was not a plot or a conspiracy of the unknown or unseen. It was just a fact, that 1 plus 1 really is 2! Nothing else! No help (or curse) from God or any rubbish of the sort.

We were taught to believe beyond the facts, to ?walk by faith not by sight?. -But duh, if you don?t use your eyes, you?ll get killed walking in the middle of the freeway. I wanted answers to so many questions I had. I thought, ? If I?m really to ?have faith?, will I die if I walk in the middle of a busy street?? The adults never had an answer. It was always like, ? You need to pray about that. God doesn?t like to hear you doubt him?. Well, it is a mystery no more. I found the answer: common sense. If you don?t use your eyes and go somewhere busy with cars and all sorts of fast moving vehicles, you will die. If you don?t believe that, you belong in a cult. There are no trick answers or hidden meanings. A spade?s a spade.

I want to tell anyone who doubts themselves for joining the real world that you HAVE made the right choice. Anytime you want to be responsible for yourself, take a stand for what you believe, and listen to your body, you are making the right choice. It may seem like the wrong thing to do and it may feel awkward at times, but you should never betray who you are for anyone or anything. You are the most important person in your life! It sounds selfish, but think about it: if you can?t (don?t) take care of yourself, how can you take care of your spouse, lover, or family? Once you know who you are, you can have anything you want. (OK, almost anything!)

I agree, "self-centeredness" and Positive self-esteem are basically the same thing. People with no self-esteem are a REAL drag to be around, even worse than the opposite. (With proud people, at least you can cut them down)
