"I wanna see children who are as willing to lay down their lives for Jesus as the suicide bombers are for Islam" -says it all.

There is a great memoir by a woman named Julia Scheeres who spent time at a Jesus Camp/TTC/Victor Camp type place and had parents who remind me of mine (IF mine worked for a living and did not sleep around):

I read that book about six months ago. What Julia went through with parents who "loved" Jesus so much but didn't love their children and considered raising them (and even adopting more) as a burden to bear for God was relatable for me. I do feel like my own parents loved us kids but the focus was always on "the missionaries" on the field. My parents lived in Canada and my dad REFUSED to raise six kids "by faith" so we were mainly in supportive roles: allowing road teams to stay with us and giving hundreds of dollars in title (along with many personal gifts of cash to families we knew who were about to go to India or whatever.) The glorious mission field was the focus for my mother as I grew up and she even took me to a mall close to my school when I was between 9 and 12 years old to litness to my classmates and raise money for "the missionaries." Cringe. Of course, Julia's story is much more extreme than mine, but that is a good book for people who grew up in TFI. Another is The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

I feel so so bad for those poor, poor kids. they should be taken from these parents. they deserve a chance, these "parents" don't deserve kids.

I love how she talks about the fat lazy people who don't want to give up their evening meals, who are too into food and being fat to fast for a month. I wonder when the last time she went more then 3 hours without eating. what does she weigh, like 275?

This shit makes me sick!

That's just as bad as making them endtime prophets. My future kids will be nothing but kids until they grow up. I won't drag them into the wreck that was my childhood.(reply to this comment
