Trading Spouses 11/2/05 | from EyesWideShut - Thursday, November 03, 2005 accessed 1977 times Did anybody see this??? OMG! Comments please! Unbelieveable woman on Trading Spouses last night, to be continued next week. Religious freak. Now I understand who perpetuated the Dark Ages and burned people at the stake--people like HER!!! I think I only knew a few people in the Family that were close to that bad. To think that zillions of people in the South are like that! And it wasn't just her, it was her friends too. TG I live in CA, where heathens run free! |

| from tuneman7 Friday, November 04, 2005 - 13:42 (Agree/Disagree?) I didn't see the show. So I don't know what the uproar is all about. A lot of Southerners consider Californians pretty bogus. Cali is just a melting pot of all types of stuff. All I know is that I've always liked "Sweet Home Alabamba", which I don't think was even written or performed by an Alabamban group. Chill or be chilled. Tuneman7 (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | | | | | From Big Sister Saturday, November 05, 2005, 14:37 (Agree/Disagree?) "Sweet Home Alabama" has an interesting North/South controversy connected to it. Some people say it is a racist, pro-racism song. Below are the words to the original Lynyrd Skynyrd song. Note the references to Neil Young and to Birmingham and "the Gov'nor". "Sweet Home Alabama" was written in response to Neil Young's song "Southern Man"- lyrics further below. "Southern Man" is about racism in the South, "Sweet Home Alabama" responds to it by saying it's not all bad. Both Lynyrd Skynyrd and Neil Young say they are friends and respect each other's songs. But both songs touched a nerve and the connection between the two songs is still discussed. ------------------------------------------------- "Sweet Home Alabama" Big wheels keep on turning, carry me home to see my kin singing songs about the southland. I miss alabamy once again and I think it's a sin. Yes. Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her. Well, I heard ole Neil put her down. Well, I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don't need him around anyhow. Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. In Birmingham they love the Gov'nor. Oooh hoo hoo. Now we all did what we could do. Now Watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you, tell the truth. Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers and they ve been known to pick a song or two. Lord, they get me off so much, they pick me up when I'm feeling blue, now how about you. Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. Sweet home Alabama where the skies are so blue. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. --------------------------------------------- "Southern Man" Southern man better keep your head Don't forget what your good book said Southern change gonna come at last Now your crosses are burning fast Southern man I saw cotton and I saw black Tall white mansions and little shacks. Southern man when will you pay them back? I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking How long? How long? Southern man better keep your head Don't forget what your good book said Southern change gonna come at last Now your crosses are burning fast Southern man Lily Belle, your hair is golden brown I've seen your black man comin' round Swear by God I'm gonna cut him down! I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking How long? How long? (reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | from EyesWideShut Friday, November 04, 2005 - 11:28 (Agree/Disagree?) I didn't say "ALL PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH" or even "THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTH". I said "zillions". We all know that's not even a number, so you can take it how you want. GET A GRIP, you Southerners. If ya ain't a hit dog, don't howl! (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | from Lance Friday, November 04, 2005 - 10:40 (Agree/Disagree?) I feel equally puzzled and insulted at the same time(southerner here). What the hell are you talking about? I am reminded again of another quote: "A change in weather is the discourse of fools" -Aristotle. The same can be said of cheesy soap operas. (reply to this comment)
| | | | | from clark Friday, November 04, 2005 - 09:11 (Agree/Disagree?) Hey, ease up on the south already. I live in the heart of the south and we have plenty of heathens here. There are religious fanatics everywhere. (reply to this comment)
| From Phoenixkidd Friday, November 04, 2005, 09:46 (Agree/Disagree?) Your absolutely right, even in California, there are many religious fanatics. I once looked at a map that showed the dominant religion for each county. I was shocked that most of the west, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California & Colorado, The main religion was Mormonism. It's crazy, those guys can be so backwards, and although they deny it, they still believe in polygamy and that they are part of God's Elite, Just as in The cult we grew up in. | | | | From cheeks Friday, November 04, 2005, 16:25 (Agree/Disagree?) Dude, you don't know what you are talking about. They do not believe in polygamy. They originally started polygamy when so many of the men were killed during their persecution, and the women needed help with the farms and so on. Now a days it is absolutly forbidden and you can get excomunicated from the church. They are also some of the most generous people you will find. When my hubby was so sick with his Cancer they fed us, clothed us, paid our mortgage and bought the kids Christmas presents. I will forever be grateful to the Mormons because they were the only ones who helped us when we could not help ourselves.(reply to this comment) |
| | From I hate mormons Friday, November 04, 2005, 21:12 (Agree/Disagree?) Nice try, "Oh we don't want to practice polygamy but we have no choice" Another attempt by another religious group to cover up their contraversial past. You are naive to believe it. The truth is that polygamy is why the persecution started, and why they had to make the great exodus. The government pressed them very hard to stop with no success, it eventually resulted in military force, after a long standoff with the Army the prophet suddenly announced that god had suddenly declared that polygamy was no longer OK. How convenient! They may have stopped but they are still dangerous. Just another cult trying to pass for a church, although they are doing much better at it than TF. They purposefully witness to kids, which I think is totally unfair because children lack the judgment to see through their bullshit, and they get stuck in those beliefs for their whole lives. I hate the Mormons, more so than I hate all other Christians. They'll never be happy until they pollute all law with theology, and take away our freedoms one at a time. Wake up everyone, why should we accept them when the do not accept us, no matter how nice they appear up front. Don't forget the family appears pretty innocent to most, that doesn't make it so. I'm sorry for ranting, this subject has hit me very close to home. (reply to this comment) |
| | From cheeks Saturday, November 05, 2005, 10:21 (Agree/Disagree?) Don't accuse me of being naive. You know nothing about me. You know nothing about what I know and don't. What I have learned and havn't. I have read the book of Mormon, I have visited in their Church, I have spoken to their youth and seen their missionaries. Do not assume that you know anything about me through two paragraphs. The Mormons care for their own and for others, their children are educated. They do not tolerate abuse. They are not a cult any more so than any other religion can be called a cult. At least their children are being raised with morals and values, which is more than I can say for most of the children in America. By the way I am not a mormon. (reply to this comment) |
| | | | From cheekstwo Saturday, November 05, 2005, 16:13 (Agree/Disagree?) So are you admiting there is a God? Or are you just crying in your tea because you are unable to figure out what you believe or dis-believe in? Why do you really care what they believe. Seeing you would rather your child raised anyother way that would include being raised in the Family. Or perhaps growing up in Thailand where their parents sell them into sexual slavery. You could have them grow up in a meth or crack house where you are too stoned to give a shit. I suggest you think about what you are typing before you type such dribble. Grow up jerk, the world doesn't revolve around you and thank God for that.(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | From roughneck Saturday, November 05, 2005, 13:27 (Agree/Disagree?) "They are not a cult any more so than any other religion can be called a cult." That's the rub, isn't it? Personally, I'm of the view that all religions, bar none, are merely successful cults -Mormonism definitely included. I do agree with your assessment of the LDS*, though. Generally speaking, they do a helluva lot better by their children than TF will ever manage. I have several LDS-youth acquaintances, and though they are some of the most infuriatingly closed-minded people it's ever been my misfortune to engage in conversation, they are otherwise well-educated, productive and upstanding citizens. (*LDS: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or Mormons.) (reply to this comment) |
