Getting On : Literature Reviews
Harry Potter | from PopNFresh - Friday, July 01, 2005 accessed 1177 times July 16th is the US release date for next installment of the Harry Potter series and a reminder of my freedom. Yes, I know Harry Potter may seem childish to most of you, but if you dare, think back to the moments in TF when a really interesting movie/book/cartoon was blasted everywhere in public while you were out witnessing. If your situation was anything like mine, any mention of desire to watch or read something that had even the slightest hint of appeal to me was met with accusations of "doubt" and much more. Had the Harry Potter series been released during my time in the family, I know I'd have ended up in some babe's program to straighten me out. So on July 15th at 10 pm, I will be at the nearest Borders waiting in line for the new Harry Potter. I will enjoy it immensely no matter what because I will know that I am free to read whatever I want. I will get to see all the happy children who's parents are not denying them such a fun reader. They will be all dressed up as little witches and warlocks, maybe ghosts or mythical creatures. I will also know that somewhere out there, the pathetic family home my mother is in will be having some overnight vigil and prayer for me, in hopes that I will wake up to the evilness of the book and that will snap me back to the reality that my true place is in the Family. For those of you who have not yet read any Harry Potters, please take try reading the first book. You might really enjoy it. It's been 7 years since I left, and I'm still living out my childhood by doing all the things I would have done. So cheers to all of you Harry Potter fans out there who, like me are looking forward to July 16th, 2005! |

Reader's comments on this article Add a new comment on this article | from cheeks Monday, July 04, 2005 - 15:49 (Agree/Disagree?) You should go to wal-mart and save some money they will also release at midnight. I have read the whole series as well and will be in line also. If you enjoy reading try Janet Evonovich's Stephanie Plum series. It starts with One for the Money. You will be laughing the whole time, and if you don't enjoy what you read what is the point? | | | from moon beam Sunday, July 03, 2005 - 10:41 (Agree/Disagree?) I know what you mean, I felt that as a child when reading the Narnia series. I had a lot of fun reading the Harry Potter's to, then with my son, who will be reading the next one on his own. I may be tempted to nick it afterwards ;) (reply to this comment)
| from conjoined twins Sunday, July 03, 2005 - 09:12 (Agree/Disagree?) ...I read the first three potter books when I was 21 and wanted to get into reading an writing (I was always into maths) - I think they're quite good for this kinda purpose (My writing used to be much worse , if you can imagine that's possible) But after please try something like 'Moby Dick'... | | | From PopNFresh Tuesday, July 05, 2005, 00:16 (Agree/Disagree?) Sadly, Harry Potter is sort of an addiction for me. Drama is not my cup of tea, I have plenty of it in real life. Good fantasy does the trick for me because it is strictly entertainment. When I'm not reading my Harry Potter or LOTR at 2:00am, I usually have my head burried in some sort of regulatory compliance article (work). If I'm too tired to read, I'll watch a light hearted Jane Austin flick. =](reply to this comment) |

You know, I thought it was Austen, but then I re-read the comment before, it was spelled Austin, sort of threw me there. Sort of embarassing, yeah, about ol' adolph too--I can't even remember his first name, just the last and the book he wrote that I loved. At least I did capitalize the proper nouns.(reply to this comment) |
