Does anybody know if any ex-members had or have a career in politics? If so, in which country?

Do any of you have political aspirations, if not now, possibly in the future? I think that one day I’d like to run political office, in which capacity, I’ am currently unsure. Despite the fact that I hold an American passport, unfortunately I cannot run for president since I was not born in the US; however, I think I can run for other political positions.
I would love to be part of the legislature in this land. And guess what sort of laws/bills will have first priority on my agenda. Anyway, just a thought for now, there are a myriad of objectives I wish to pursue prior to embarking upon a political career. Interested to hear what you all think.
