Getting Out : Media Reports

Japanese Media Seeks Ex-Members

from monger - Monday, April 25, 2005

Certain major Japanese media outlets are looking for people who fit the following profiles. Respondents in Japan are generally preferred.

  • A woman who was abused in The Family.
  • An ex-FGA (male or female).
  • Anyone who was a member until recent years (male or female).
  • Full-blooded Japanese ex-SGA (male or female).
  • Any details that each source wants to keep off the record will be protected. Of course, if there are people willing to come forward with their names, the media outlets would greatly appreciate that, too.

I have had extensive contact with one reporter in Japan and have come to trust her. She is willing to act as a middle person and ensure the privacy of each person, if that is needed or wanted. She does not want her name or publishing company released publicly at this time, but if you email me I can send you the info.

She has requested that those willing to be interviewed get back to me at monger AT waggery.com (or you can use editors AT xfamily.org which is read by several people) with contact info, and I will forward it on to her as quickly as possible.

This could lead to more attention on the group in Japan than all the other recent media coverage.

    Thanks...

just be careful as reporters actually can write anything they want to about us too, they have lawyers to help them write it in a way that protects them from legal action against them. The media is not sympathetic to our situation they just want to make money.

That is not necessarily the case. Discretion is certainly appropriate, but there are individuals out there who are "sympathetic to our situation".(reply to this comment

I'm not saying dont talk to media but just be careful. it actually IS the case that media has to make money. my family left over TF 10 years ago and were interviewed by a seemingly sympathetic reporter. Article came out very different to how the interview went. We looked into suing the magazine but they were covered from all angles by the wording they used. Im talking from experience here. Make sure you make your own recording or transcript of the interview and get the interviewer to verify it. (reply to this comment
