Lot's of similarities with TF.

"founded the commune-like enclave in 1961,"

Apparently a great era for making cults.

"Schaefer, 83, also faces charges of sexually abusing children at the colony"

If only Berg lived long enough to be apprehended and charged.

"leaders were repeatedly accused of cooperating with Pinochet's feared security services"

Why do cults love dictators and tyrants?

"leaders of the colony denied the accusations, calling them part of a communist-inspired smear campaign."

Yes, it's anti-christ inspired religious persecution.

"The colony was self-supporting with its own hospital, school and farm."

Berg changed this plan in the early stages, but originally, this was the plan. Maybe he thought it would gather too much attention.

"Almost from the beginning, Schaefer and his aides were accused of keeping more than 300 German and Chilean residents against their will."

From the begining, there was the accusations from parents that their children were kidnapped.

"Several former members who fled the enclave said married couples were forced to live in separate quarters and away from their children."

Sound familiar anyone?

"Our colony has reoriented its life, reorganized itself as an open, free colony, fully integrated to Chilean society,"

Yeah yeah, and the cycle continues.

TF in Chile was on great terms with Pinochet. In fact they were under his direct protection, he issued an order that they weren't to be bothered after some children sang for him. To my knowledge no home was ever raided in Chile.(reply to this comment

This cult family had a big framed picture on our living room wall of Pinochet shaking their hands. Fitting, huh? Human rights abusers on both sides of that hand shake—the cult and the dictator.(reply to this comment
