Unprofessionals: Zerby's prophecy for Daniel | from Jules - Tuesday, July 09, 2002
accessed 2167 times A few months ago the Family published a directive called The Professionals. This publication reproduced a letter written by a second generation young person containing some pointed questions for "Maria" and "Peter". The questions were related to privacy, independence, past sexual abuse and punishment and other issues that this young person felt strongly should be addressed. This letter was circulated among some of the youth in the group before being sent to "Peter" and "Maria".

In addition to the very lengthy explanation given by "Peter" as to why there was no reason for anyone to feel this way, a young person who helped distribute the initial letter received a private correspondence from "Peter and Maria's" personal secretary.

Dear Daniel,
Mama and Peter love you, and wanted to thank you for writing and explaining the circumstances behind the anonymous letter that was published in “The Professionals”, and that you were the one who had typed the letter for a female friend of yours, set up an account for her and sent it around to Family members.
As far as your e-mail account, I did want to clarify that WS did not have a hand in shutting down famtopics@hotmail.com , as you suspected. WS does not hack in to e-mail boxes or shut down sites that are not WS-originated, nor are we aware of every e-mail box, chat room or web site that the Family sets up. And we certainly are not capable of, nor do we have an interest in monitoring or policing what happens on Family originated boxes or hacking in to their personal mail.
You were right when you said that it was pretty common knowledge that you had played some part in helping the letter get send around, as after “The Professionals” GN came out, Mama and Peter had people who personally knew you-SGAs and FGAs--writing and informing them that they felt you had had a part in distributing the letter. In fact, not only did they say you had a part in distributing it, but every person who knew you also said that they felt the letter had actually been written by you! Evidently some of the very things that are mentioned in “The Professionals” as happening to others, and the examples given, these people testified that you yourself spoke of them as personal experiences you had had at some point in your life.
So far, no one has written in informing us that they know for a fact who this girl was whom you claim wrote the letter. If these things did indeed happen to her, you would think that Mama and Peter would be getting letters from people who knew her, informing them of who she was, not letters confirming that it was you. As well, there are many other Daniels in the Family, and we have not had anyone else by the name of Daniel write us saying they are receiving hurtful e-mails and accusations that they had written the letter, and ask for a disclaimer. Now that’s something to think about, isn’t it?
Daniel, when it comes right down to it, Mama and Peter are not really so concerned as to who wrote the letter. They have received lots of reactions to it, many pledges of love and loyalty from both SGAs and FGAs, and as far as they are concerned, it bore good fruit. However, they are concerned that in spite of the fact that people who know you are accusing you of writing this letter, not only to us, but as you mention to yourself as well, yet you deny it and place the blame on this anonymous girl. You asked for a disclaimer to be posted, saying that the letter did not come from you. Because Mama and Peter, of course, didn’t know where the truth lay, Mama asked the Lord about it, and He sent Dad to give you a message. We are including it below.
I don`t know about your personal respect for prophecy, but as the Lord`s chosen winetaster I pray that you listen to what this prophecy received by mama has to say.
Remember if your not for us, your against us! Do you want to kick against the pricks and against the Lord`s anointed by your strife and division? The Family is led by the Lord and his chosen endtime prophets.
Theres not a whole lot in the form of "useful criticism" that can be offered by kids like you. Perhaps you could have done so prayerfully and through your TW on the TRF. But to send your doubts around through any communications device, in such an uncaring or spiteful manner is harmful to say the least.
Beware Daniel! Beware!
We pray that you read it with an open heart, and ask the Lord to help you to receive Dad’s little talk to you.
We love you, we are concerned about you, and want to help you in any way we can. Mama and Peter, of course, would be interested in hearing from you again, after you have read Dad’s message to you and had some time to pray and get ahold of the Lord about the things he talks to you about.

(Dad begins by reading to from the Bible, leaving out little parts that don’t apply:)
“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, ’Yea, hath God said….’ … and the Lord God called Adam, and He said, ’Where art thou?’ And Adam said, ’I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.’ …And the Lord said, ’Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?’ …And Adam said, ’The woman … she gave me of the tree AND I DID EAT!’”
Does this sad little account of man’s downfall speak to you, son? First there is Satan, the Fallen One, the Father of Lies who searches out those who, through pride and rebellion and desire for self glory, have let their guard down and therefore opened themselves to listening to him. The serpent, though he lived right there in the garden of God with Adam and Eve and was just another “happy” animal as far as they were concerned, had this weakness of being a ‘subtle’ creature, and so Satan was able to gain entrance and use him to pose his, ”I only ask because I’m concerned and am looking out for you” type question. You can imagine him saying, “Look, we all live happily in this wonderful Garden of God together, but being the superior and clever creature that I am, I know more than you, so I feel I must point out to you certain things.”
Well, you know the story, Daniel. Satan was not the Good Shepherd he pretended to be. He had no intention of ever laying down his life for those sheep, Adam and Eve, or any other sheep for that matter, because he hates God’s sheep and only wants to use and abuse them. He didn’t want them following God around--he wanted them following him around instead. He was proud, he was lifted up, he wanted to be God. No, Satan was not the answer man come to solve all those problems that they didn’t even know they had till he arrived. He was the wolf, the deceiver, the Destroyer who had come to capture and devour the sheep--or at the very least confuse and scatter them. Under the guise of wanting to open their eyes and lead them to something greater, he brought them into blindness, death, bondage and servitude to himself. Jesus called Satan a murderer and a liar because that is just what he is.
So, dear Eve bought the lie, ate the fruit and handed it to Adam, and Adam plainly and simply made his decision, took and ate it. Now enters GOD with all those hard questions, and Adam is suddenly all self-conscious and into covering himself up. Oops! I’m naked! I’m exposed here! I need to hide. God calls out, “Adam, what’s wrong, where are you? Why are you hiding? Why are you acting this way? Is something wrong?” Adam replies, “I’m naked!”
Are you seeing any parallels here Daniel to your situation?
Finally, God pops the question, “Did you eat of the tree I told you not to eat from?” Caught red-handed, Adam does everything he can to sidestep the issue, but he’s on the hot seat and has to answer. “It wasn’t really me, God-THE WOMAN made me do it! The woman YOU gave me!” Boy, is he desperate! He even wants to try and place part of the blame on God Himself for having even given him Eve in the first place.
I couldn’t help but notice, Daniel, that in your recent letter to Peter you also say that it was a woman who convinced you to write the letter and do what you did. You were just a poor dupe, a puppet just trying to be helpful and perform for those who pull your strings. How sad! But you are more than right about being used by “hidden hands” than even you realize. Are you getting the picture? Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!
Standing up like a man, taking the blame, apologizing and owning up to what we have done without trying to weasel out of it or throw the blame off onto others, is one of the hardest things in the world for anyone to do. It’s a total killer. It kills your pride. It shatters that lovely, saint-like image we love to create of ourselves. Plus the Devil freaks out and hits you with every lie and fear in the book! The Devil comes in like a flood because he wants to cut you off from God and the Family. He knows you are smart, he knows deep down that you do believe and want to love and serve the Lord, and he knows that you would be a serious threat to him if you see and realize what he is up to and repent and come to the Lord’s side with your whole heart, a whole lot wiser and humbler servant and of more use to God than ever before.
Daniel, the Devil does not want you to win this one! He wants to sift you! He wants you dead, or so bound by your pride that you can never hope to break his grip on you. You just have to realize that we are in a war and the battle is on for you and your service. And right now he is throwing everything he’s got at you. Resist him, son! Rebuke him! Fight back! Don’t just lay there and listen to all his lies. You got into the wrong spirit and made a mess. Okay, let’s learn from it and go on! Things like this happen! But the Lord is working all things together for good for you and for everyone else too. You are waking up to the fact--Hey, it’s true. I do need to be sober and vigilant, because the Devil really is walking about seeking to devour me!
So now the Devil is really mad and screaming at you, “Deny it! Save yourself! Make up a story, any story! Say something, anything, but preferably say something that you can sort of make yourself believe, or that has a bit of truth to it. Here, grab this tiny rubber fig leaf of truth and try to stretch it all over yourself. Hurry! Hurry! Cover up as quickly as you can! Write a letter to Peter to ‘explain’ that it wasn’t you, but someone else who is really behind it all. Quick, run like Jezebel and try to fix your face and put on some nice smelling perfume, because outside your window you think you hear the rumble of Jehu’s chariot.” Now you are really in a tizzy wondering what is going to happen to you!
Son, the Devil is such a traitor. He is happy to get you into a big mess with his lies, half-truths and temptations, but then when you are caught and exposed, he just takes off and leaves you holding the bag. He loves getting people into messes and then sadistically sits back and watches them squirm, “Too bad, chump! It serves you right for listening to me.” Then he starts in on you again, “Look, if you really want to hang onto your pride I can help you. Here’s what you do...” But as the lights begin to come on he suddenly announces, “I gotta go now, but I’ll be back anytime you want me. All this exposure to the light and uncovering of my dirty work is more than I can handle. The truth just kills me and it will kill you, too. Avoid it! Stay proud, stay tough! Don’t cave in, get humble and tell the truth. Don’t be crazy! If you tell the truth about what a shmuck you are, you really won’t have any friends left! You wanted to be their hero and now you’re a heel. Well, it serves you right for being on God’s team in the first place. Now you’re in this big mess and you will be treated like a leper forever! Why don’t you just give up! Quit and come with me now!
“Ooops! I really gotta go now! Peter and Mama are praying for you and there’s a bunch of saints and angels heading this way! So I gotta split! Things are getting a little too hot for me to hang around you! Here’s my number, kid. Don’t hesitate to call me if for any reason you want to give up on God, the Family, or yourself. I’ll make it real easy for you. I’ll help you make them rue the day they ever messed with you. Bitterness! Hate! Self-pity! That sort of thing I’m very good at!” (End of a sample of the Devil’s typical tirade.)
Okay Daniel, I think you get the point that it’s time to stop playing around. The game is over. You played with fire and you got burned. Learn the lesson and let’s go on. You have no idea how many wonderful things God wants to do in your life and the truly great things He wants to use you for. But some of that pride and anger, deceitfulness and the desire for recognition and attention has to be taken out of the way first, and that’s the breaking part. What?--You think Jesus was only joking when He said that He can only use broken men? Welcome to God’s breaking machine, located at the entrance to God’s exclusive Broken Men Only Club. God’s very best do make it through the door, but certainly not in one piece.
Fall on Jesus, Daniel! You will shatter and break in lots of places, but that kind of breaking is so good because you get free at last from all those dark little hiding places and the prison cells you crawl into in your mind when you are not letting the Word really wash you, and the Spirit strengthen you. It hurts, I know it does-but look at it this way-it’s a lot better to be broken by God Who loves you, than be with those who resist and harden themselves.
So, Daniel, what’s it to be? More talk, or are you ready to fall on the Rock? Are you ready to fight the Devil, or do you just want to keep blowing more hot air into your image balloon until it pops in your face? As for your fears about the Family being too rough on you, I assure you that you will find them all very forgiving, understanding and loving as soon as they see the true banners of Jesus and His love flying high from your mast, and the shining face of a new creature transformed by Jesus standing there at the helm as you steer your boat safely out of those dangerous waters you have drifted into. I promise you, you will get more passengers wanting to get on board with you for Jesus than you ever got wanting to crawl onto that pirate ship you were trying to sail around in before.
I love you, Daniel. Don’t disappoint me. I’m sorry you feel bad about not having a father’s name on your birth certificate. Well, you do now! You can write my name in that blank anytime because I’m here for you, and Mama and Peter are here for you, too. We love you, son! Just come clean, clean up and let’s get down to some serious serving the Lord.

I'm sure I read somewhere on this site that the above paragraph was not part of the original letter and that its origins were uncertain. It seems slightly juvenile, especially the part where it says "Beware, Daniel, Beware" and the bad grammar. Also, I don't think they'd want to be quoted as saying, "Theres not a whole lot in the form of "useful criticism" that can be offered by kids like you." It would be a rather stupid move, proving that they really don't want to hear any opinions other than their own. Which is true, of course, but they're usually careful enough to at least always make themselves seem like the good guys according to their own twisted yardsticks.

Yeah, Claire Borowick was quick to jump on here and say that this letter was tampered with--although, as seems typical of her protests, she failed to specify where, nor did she post the original version.
It seems fairly obvious, however, that any phrase or sentence containing spelling errors or the grave accent (`) in lieu of an apostrophe (') was not in the original.
I can't imagine what someone would hope to gain by stooping to falsify portions of this letter as it only invalidates in Family members' minds anything else that ex-members have to say. (reply to this comment) |

The Family leadership obviously hasn't gotten over the fact that the SGAs are supposed to be grown and mature adults themselves, they still treat them like kids.
But honestly, Daniel needs to get himself out of that group, I wouldn't in any terms allow someone to patronize me that way, it's a terrible abuse of power and mindset to think you can lord it over someone like that, and using God's name to coerce people. It's exactly the thing that drives one away from God.
I don't understand why they can't take Daniel at his word that he didn't write the letter in reflection of someone else's experiences. And if Daniel is in such fear that he needs to deny doing it, if it truly is his own original experiences he's writing about, then he needs to stand up for himself and live life, get out of the group and start over.
In the real life, the only people I would ever say, "Come on, I know you did it!" to are my kids. I would never be so rude as to keep trying to force someone to "confess" when they have denied the action, it's a plain lack of respect for the person. It sends a message to everyone else, "You'd better agree with us or we're going to get a prophecy for you.." the same thing they did years ago with throwing mud on someone cause they didn't agree with the Family policy, etc.
And the weird thing is, Family "youth" keep saying that the Family has changed, that you can pick and choose your doctrines and disagree if you like, etc. When it comes down to it, nothing

That's very common in their writings using Berg as the prophecy giver: "You wish you had a daddy for all those kiddos? Well, you have one now!--Me!" "You wish you could have taken more pictures of your wedding and had a better wedding dress?--Well, you have one now, because I took the pictures myself from heaven, and I even designed your dress!" "You wish you had a puppy? Well, you have one now and I named him myself!"

OH-MY-GOD! There aren’t words to describe the utter horror I feel at reading something like this. Flashbacks, dejavu and THANK GOD I LEFT!!!!

So, if I understand that paragraph correctly, Ashley is now the Lord’s chosen winetaster and “Mama” received the prophecy? Is this some kind of odd role reversal game they now play in “The King’s House”?

what a whiner! The thing that angers me most about the F is that they tried to tell me how to think. But all this guy can do is whine about some stupid rules. He really doesn't get it, if he feels that strongly about independence he needs to leave, but in his own words "the F is my life and I don't know what else I'd do" What a chickens**t!
On the other hand, Uncle Penie repeatedly says that the behavior of certain adults is wrong. Does he do anything about it? He passes the buck onto SGA's repeatedly, saying "they need to find ways to keep the young people" How about you reform your evil-mind controlling organization?
In addition, he banters at every question with his metaphors and religious thinking and rarely comes down and talks sense to him[Daniel]. I would have respected a short response along the lines of: " You're right, we're a hard group to live in and if you don't like it you should leave" I did!
I also find it extremely hypocritical for him to say "we welcome criticism and want people to tell it like it is" and then they go and chew him out with the above 'prophecies'. Dejavu anyone? Didn't they do the same thing with Zack Attack, Patience (who wrote the commentary on the heavenly mansion poster that provoked the murmuring letter, the name of which escapes me), James Penn, the young people who recently wrote in with their questions, and no doubt countless others who they demonized privately when they didn't see the need to publicly expose th

I'd really like all the Family SGA-s and YA-s to read this and see what "the winetasters" really think of young people's opinions, especially when said opinions aren't bubbling over with positivity and love for the cult. The sad thing is that there's a lot of "young people like " whose criticism "moo-moo Maria" would be well advised to heed. So much for no generation gap, eh?

well, that's a laugh!!! they tell him no one should be treated in certain ways, shouldn't blow up at you, etc. then look what THEY go & do.
all the bullshit we were fed about 'zerby being very concerned & personally knowing everyone in every home' was so obviously a lie-- even then. if they really had any connection with anyone they would have known it wasn't just widespread, it was not even second nature. it just was!
but i'm wasting my time right now because everyone knows this.
i think i could get let off on a plea of temporary insanity if i ever met any of these people. & yes you know who you are! because if you even have the slightest little sinking feeling in your stomach when one of us looks at you, & you realize that we are now taller, smarter & workout a hell of lot more than you do, then you should be afraid.
hmmm, i think i'm incriminating myself. it's like a retrospective on something i have yet to do.
