Child molestor gets 5 life terms

http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060517/NEWS01/605170348/1002/NEWS

This guy also sounds disturbingly familiar to you-know-who.

After to listening to Raymond Russell George recite scriptures from the Bible, request a long sentence so he can preach to murderers and explain why he hasn't showered in six months, a judge sentenced the convicted child molester Tuesday to five life prison terms plus six years.

"I'm ecstatic to go to prison," George, a slight man with long matted gray hair and bushy beard, told the judge. "I don't care if you run them consecutive or concurrent because Christ Jesus is going to be here soon anyway. So you can sentence me for 120 years and I'd be happy."

Washoe District Judge Steven Kosach granted his request and ordered the maximum punishment possible under the law for each of the six felony counts. And Kosach ordered the sentences be consecutive.

George, 58, must serve 72 years and four months before becoming eligible for parole.

The teenage girls, now 16 and 17, and their 15-year-old brother who were abused in George's cult-like home for two years beamed with happiness after the hearing, hugging the judge and high-fiving each other and their grandparents in the hallway.

"We're very satisfied," said a smiling Gary Peterson, the children's grandfather, who with his wife has become their legal guardian since they escaped from George's Reno apartment.

George was found guilty in March of three counts of lewdness with a child under 14, two counts of sexual assault on a child and one count of child abuse.

According to testimony during his trial, George called himself "Jacob" and took the three children into his home for about two years. Using a bible as his authority, George made the girls his wives and forced them to spend time with him in his "fantasy room" where he made them dress in silk clothing and perform sexual acts.

Before sentencing, Deputy Public Defender John Malone, urged the judge to consider a lighter sentence. George doesn't have a criminal history, Malone said, and has devoted himself to his religious studies.

"His knowledge of the Bible is encyclopedic," he said.

George then stood, with his well-used Bible in hand, and began his statement.

"Jesus is the lord; I say that every single day," he said. "I don't fear death even slightly."

He said he keeps his hair matted and dirty and hasn't showered in six months to protect himself from other inmates at the jail, who he said would "flick boogers at me and fart in my face."

"No one wants to smell me," he said.

But once in prison, he said he plans to clean up and "be there for the prisoners" to provide spiritual help to the murderers and those who have "done evil deeds."

When George was done speaking, the judge shook his head.

"If you want to save people you should shorten your sermon," Kosach said.

He then sat back as a victim's advocate read a letter from the younger of the two girls, who asked the judge to consider the damage George has done to her and her family when he decides how long George should remain locked up.

"He caused me to fear for my life every day and at the same time almost made me wish for death to take me and my pain out of this world," she said in the letter.

"He deserves to rot and die in prison," she said. "He deserves to have his mind and body caged until his death, which I hope will be slow, painful and full of dread. He deserves this so that he can never hurt people again."

Kosach ordered the five life terms and wished the children well.

"Kids, you go live your lives," he said. "Your smiles said it all. This was just a bug on the windshield of life. Go out and live your lives."

"His knowledge of the Bible is encyclopedic,"

And the judge didn't give a fuck! Brilliant! Looks like this country may finally be trying to get on the civilization bandwagon.

Think about it, what do you think keeps The Family financed and out of prison? Fundies in the Bible Belt.

if this guy abused these children & used the bible to justify it,he doesn't have a leg to stand on. if he has repented of his dark & very satanic sin & receieved Christ as Lord & Savior then he is a forgiven man & the Lord can use him as paul was used by God after his conversion.only God knows the condition of his heart.personally i think all sex offender should be put to death for the lives they destroy but God,in His ultimite wisdom, can & does use everything to bring about His perfect plan despite satans attempts to screw things up. gotta trust God in everything

If? this guy abused these children? He did abuse them, he got convicted of it...and as it said he DID use the bible to justify it. Proof, not IF'S. Kinda interesting way of putting things and it can only make me wonder if your still in TF or not. Thing about sexual abuse is when it's reported it's more than likely true, very rarely is it NOT true and I find it hard to believe that some people sit back and say innocent until proven guilty, I'm sorry. If one person says it happened, I can see the reasons for being careful and even I might question it but when 5 say it's so, then just throw the creep in jail and throw away the key. It's hard to get proof for this sort of thing and that's one of the reasons it is so hard to try in court, but when there is soooo many many victims it's almost a waste of time to try justify or excuse the behaviour cause you know they are guilty as sin. Perfect plan? Ultimate wisdom? I'm not sure we're talking about the same God. If God is in control, then God is responsible. Why would his perfect plan involve little girls being raped? Why should he be forgiven just because he repents, and converts to your religion? He's still the same rapist. That's sick. The fact that you worship this twisted deity is sick.

I have come expect this sort of blind ignorance from you Christians, and you have every right to believe what you want, but what on earth made you think that a few very tired cliches would be welcomed by anyone here? If it weren't for believers like you who choose to ignore truth, bad shit wouldn't happen in the name of God. Christians like you sympathized with TF, and helped to support them, you worship the same God as them, but try to hold yourself separate. I'm not buying it.

It is my belief that the sympathy of Christians is the sole reason that TF has been able to get away with all that they've done. To truly expose them would reflect very negatively on all Christians, so you let them be, while claiming how different you are from them. You are exactly the same.

I guess what I'm trying to say is; I respect your beliefs, but I really wish you would keep them to yourself, as they have done enough damage. Your words open old wounds, and promise new ones. I am very aware of the danger of faith, and I don't trust you as far as I can throw you.

Why don't you find a nice Christian site where all agree with you? Then you could all sit around and worship Jesus together without any disapproval from bitter assholes like me.(reply to this comment

Show me a person who knows the reasons God does what he does, and I'll show you a liar.

It says in the bible that the children of God will be higher than angels in heaven, and i'm not talking about the church "Children of God". I am talking about everyone who has followed God sincerely, and lived the best lifes they know how. I believe they should be baptized, and give their lives to Jesus, and receive the holy spirit, but i'm not God - i don't know how he'll determine who goes to heaven or not.

I have never been associated with or attendee TF, and i am disgusted by the leadership and running of the church.

Keep in mind that God has been there watching every single time a finger has been laid on any one of his precious children, every time they've been raped or abused, and every time a ridiculous cult-created (NOT bible based) punishment has been dealt out to them.

Don't you think that the creator of the universe, who made our intricate bodies work the way they do, will make these people pay for what they've done!? These people may not have killed millions like Hitler, but i'm sure they'll be getting a pretty severe punishment as well as him.

And every child that has suffered, and every child who has taken their lives at these people's hand's will be sitting at the right had of God for eternity. Their bodies will be new, their hearts will be whole, and their abusers and betrayers will be in eternal misery.

There is no doubt that a 'church' such as this has lost all sight of God, and his real plans for his people. They are carrying out the life they want to, (having sex and dominating over young ones) under the banner of 'church'. God knows that, he's not stupid like they must think he is. It doesn't matter how well they can recite scriptures, when they manipulate them for their own personal gain and pride, it's just another mark against them, in the sea of little black marks under their names.

There is no covering up with God. You can't deceive him. They can't deceive him.(reply to this comment

I think that if there were such a thing as a god, he would have to be pretty damn sadistic to sit by and watch intently as his 'precious children' were repeatedly abused. Don't you think an all-powerful god whose very essence is love could have thought up a better way of caring for his own, than letting their little bodies and spirits be torn up and then sitting around in heaven waiting for them to die so that he could 'wipe away all their tears'?

I don't know why this anonymous person chose to dig up this old comment of mine and reply to it, especially since they didn't really address anything I said, and just reiterated everything in the comment I was replying to.

I'll never understand this: "We can't understand why God does what he does, but he's God so it must be for the greater good" I'm sorry but that's bullshit. Children have to have such blind faith in authority. Adults do not. Adults question authority, and if that authority doesn't make sense, they rebel against it.

It's the same old argument: If God is in control, and God is good, then he's failing, miserably. Has anyone else read "The Preacher"? I love his mission, hunt God down and hold him responsible. (reply to this comment

Sorry. I don't respect his ("pete's") beliefs anymore than I respect bin Laden's beliefs. I suppose the only difference between the two is one (the later one) is trying to be more "modern" with their massacres. Do you honestly believe that Xtians wouldn't eventually be burning people at the stake . . . AGAIN . . . if it wasn't for the many rational people nowadays opposing them? I agree with you about many things, Andy, but not about your take on this.

David Berg used Christianity as his particular vehicle and justification for his self-absorbtion and self-gratification. He did it all in the name of Christianity, true, but that does not mean that The Family worship the same God, or in the same way as other Christians.

The Family is a cult. Cults can choose any mainstream religion or none at all for their official cover. The Family happens to be a Christian one. This does not reflect on Christians everywhere any more than an abusive teacher reflects on teachers everywhere.

In case you're wondering, I'm not particularly Christian myself, I don't think any human knows enough about the spirit world to write a book about it or to formulate doctrines and teach them as fact. I do think there is something more than the physical, but I don't have patience for anyone's theories about it, as I see them all as money-making scams. I am simply a great believer in right and wrong, karma, and finding out the rest when we get 'there'.

Enough about me though, that's totally off the point, I know. I also disagree with your theory that the Family's strongest supporters are Christian, because in my experience, Christians have proven to be the Family's most bitter enemies, I suppose because it makes them so furious to see how the group is twisting and using their religion.

(Not that I have a rosy-glow view of 'normal Christians' either, I'm well aware of the atrocities which have been committed in the name of God throughout the ages), I just think it's unfair to lump regular Christians in with The Family, it's really not the same thing at all, and can't be compared.(reply to this comment

You are right. I happen to be having some real life issues with this type of thing, that I am bringing here. I spend a lot of time arguing matters of faith with a good friend of mine, who other than being christian, we see very eye to eye. These debates are usually alcohol related, and always passionate, and I always promise myself I won't let myself get into it with him, as it leaves us both frustrated.

Anyway, I come here, my outlet from such things, only to hear more of this nonsense. It upsets me, and I take it out on these fools who I know mean well. I also bend what I really know to be true to make more powerful points. I try to put anger aside in all I do as I know it will always stand in the way of reason (just as faith does) but I never seem to be able to. I'm still so fucking angry.

I behave foolishly, and I am ashamed of myself. Thank you for calling me out on my bullshit.(reply to this comment
