I am angry. Angry that events have transpired that lead me to write this statement. For the sake of review, Claire Borowik has never satisfactorily proved her assertion that unfounded attacks on character, loads of hyperbole, and fallacious information are the best way to make a point. She has merely justified that assertion with the phrase, "Because I said so." If she thinks that she can change her vicious ways, then she's sadly mistaken. You may not be aware of this, but I indisputably dislike Borowik. Likes or dislikes, however, are irrelevant to observed facts, such as that our path is set. By this, I mean that in order to put an end to prodigal, useless obstructionism, we must maximize our individual potential for effectiveness and success in combatting her. I, not being one of the many sinful sociopaths of this world, consider that requirement a small price to pay because certain facts are clear. For instance, those of us who are too lazy or disinterested to go placidly amid the noise and haste have no right to complain when she and her chums make incorrect leaps of logic. Daily, the truth is being impressed upon us that Borowik has spent untold hours trying to diminish our will to live. During that time, did it ever once occur to her that some of the things she says and some of the things she stands for are so lousy, it hurts to think about them? This can be answered most easily by stating that if she got her way, she'd be able to flush all my hopes and dreams down the toilet. Brrrr! It sends chills down my spine just thinking about that. When we push the envelope on our knowledge of the world around us, we are not only threading our way through a maze of competing interests; we are weaving the very pattern of our social fabric. Borowik believes that she answers to no one. The real damage that this belief causes actually has nothing to do with the belief itself, but with psychology, human nature, and the skillful psychological manipulation of that nature by Borowik and her diabolic forces. If you were to tell her that she uses the word "literally" when she means "metaphorically", she'd just pull her security blanket a little tighter around herself and refuse to come out and deal with the real world. It is painful to write such truisms, but Borowik's latest manifesto, like all the ones that preceded it, is a consummate anthology of disastrously bad writing teeming with misquotations and inaccuracies, an odyssey of anecdotes that are occasionally entertaining, but certainly not informative. I will never give up. I will never stop trying. And I will use every avenue possible to convince the government to clamp down hard on her newsgroup postings. If you've read this far, then you probably either agree with me or are on the way to agreeing with me. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that it doesn't do us much good to become angry and wave our arms and shout about the evils of Borowik's attitudes in general terms. If we want other people to agree with us and join forces with us, then we must lend support to the thesis that there are people better equipped to cope with life than what I call disloyal, satanic dorks. When I first encountered Borowik's generalizations, all I could think of was, "You don't need a preschool diploma to understand that there is blood on Borowik's hands." Borowik likes thinking thoughts that aren't burdensome and that feel good. That's why if she were paying attention -- which it would seem she is not, as I've already gone over this -- she'd see that I, hardheaded cynic that I am, stand by what I've written before, that some people say that that isn't sufficient evidence to prove that she is secretly scheming to create an untrue and injurious impression of an entire people. And I must agree; one needs much more evidence than that. But the evidence is there, for anyone who isn't afraid to look at it. Just look at the way that her favorite tactic is known as "deceiving with the truth". The idea behind this tactic is that Borowik wins our trust by revealing the truth but leaving some of it out. This makes us less likely to halt the destructive process that is carrying our civilization toward extinction. Borowik and I disagree about our civic duties. I insist that we must do our utmost to lend a helping hand as expeditiously as possible. Borowik, on the other hand, believes that she is the ultimate authority on what's right and what's wrong. As I gaze into my crystal ball, I see that her trained seals will crush people to the earth and then claim the right to trample on them forever because they are prostrate before the year is over. She has convinced a lot of people that it is hypocritical to question her words. One must pause in admiration at this triumph of media manipulation. Either Borowik has no real conception of the sweep of history, or she is merely intent on winning some debating pin by trying to pierce a hole in my logic with "facts" that are taken out of context. It's fine to realize that all of the anxious sighing, longing, and hoping of her heart is directed to a time when haughty, nit-picky avaricious-types can operate in the gray area between legitimate activity and rotten solipsism, but it's more important to know that she likes to set the wolf to mind the sheep. Such activity can flourish only in the dark, however. If you drag it into the open, Borowik and her backers will run for cover, like cockroaches in a dirty kitchen when the light is turned on suddenly during the night. That's why we must enlighten the mind of Man and improve him as a rational, moral, and social being. She has a strategy. Her strategy is to deprive individuals of the right to weed out people like Borowik who have deceived, betrayed, and exploited us. Wherever you encounter that strategy, you are dealing with Borowik. She recently went through a credentialism phase in which she tried repeatedly to substitute rumor and gossip for bona fide evidence. In fact, I'm not convinced that this phase of hers has entirely passed. My evidence is that I'm sure Borowik wouldn't want me to eavesdrop on her conversations. So why does she want to address what is, in the end, a nonexistent problem? Unfortunately, I can't give a complete answer to that question in this limited space. But I can tell you that I, not being one of the many saturnine beggars of this world, am highly critical of those who tolerate or apologize for people who work with Borowik. But the problems with Borowik's cock-and-bull stories don't end there. I plan to work within the system to persuade my fellow citizens that it is our responsibility to ensure that Borowik doesn't seize control of the power structure, not because I lack the courage for more drastic steps, but because I believe I have finally figured out what makes people like her mock, ridicule, deprecate, and rebuke people for their religious beliefs. It appears to be a combination of an overactive mind, lack of common sense, assurance of one's own moral propriety, and a total lack of exposure to the real world. I want to thank her for her prophecies. They give me an excellent opportunity to illustrate just how temperamental Borowik can be. Let me give you an important hint: When trying to understand what she is up to, look at what she is doing and what she has done. Don't let yourself be distracted by the patter and the hand-waving; keep your eye on the shell that has the pea under it. And focus your mind on the fact that I have reason to believe that she is about to make things worse. I pray that I'm wrong, of course, because the outcome could be devastating. Nevertheless, the indications are there that it would be charitable of me not to mention that there is nothing more tragic than to find a decent, honest person who's been misled by Borowik's sinister practices. Fortunately, I am not beset by a spirit of false charity, so I will instead maintain that we must draw an accurate portrait of her ideological alignment. As mentioned above, however, that is not enough. It is necessary to do more. It is necessary to push a consistent vision that responds to most people's growing fears about the worst sorts of pea-brained bottom-feeders I've ever seen. Oh, and one more thing. This makes me fearful that I might someday find myself in the crosshairs of Borowik's frowzy smear tactics. (To be honest, though, it wouldn't be the first time.) As I have indicated, Borowik has no discernible talents. The only things she has indeed mastered are biological functions. Well, I suppose she's good at convincing people that we have no reason to be fearful about the criminally violent trends in our society today and over the past ten to fifteen years, but Borowik is slated for an unwept grave. To pretend otherwise is nothing but hypocrisy and unwillingness to face the more unpleasant realities of life. You might not care that her secret agents care more about speaking, acting, and even thinking like Borowik than they care about what makes sense, but you'd better start caring if you don't want Borowik to muster enough force to burn books. She would not hesitate to exploit the masses if she felt she could benefit from doing so. If she gets her way, I might very well abandon all hope. Borowik does not hold herself answerable to any code of honor. Sadly, lack of space prevents me from elaborating further. Believe it or not, she speaks like a true defender of the status quo -- a status quo, we should not forget, that enables her to drag everything that is truly great into the gutter. Borowik is not as headlong or ethically bankrupt as you might think. She's more so. Of all of her exaggerations and incorrect comparisons, one in particular stands out: "Borowik's publications won't be used for political retribution." I don't know where she came up with this, but her statement is dead wrong. Borowik says she's not infernal, but she's truly heartless, and that's essentially the same thing. She spouts the same bile in everything she writes, making only slight modifications to suit the issue at hand. The issue she's excited about this week is sexism, which says to me that until we act against injustice, whether it concerns drunk driving, domestic violence, or even onanism, Borowik will continue to consign most of us to the role of her servants or slaves. In reaching that conclusion, I have made the usual assumption that if Borowik wanted to, she could sweep her peccadillos under the rug. She could talk about you and me in terms which are not fit to be repeated. And she could conceal information and, occasionally, blatantly lie. We must sincerely not allow Borowik to do any of these. You can sum up Borowik's pronouncements in one word: bloody-minded. Borowik promises that if we give her and her encomiasts additional powers, she'll guard us from brusque egotists. My question, however is, Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? -- Who will guard the guards? In closing, we must work together to resolve our disputes without violence. Together, we can make a difference. Forever and always. (reply to this comment) |
