What do you believe was the most prevalent reason behind our parent’s joining “The Children of God”?

Our parent's, in some ways, were unstable and/or had some psychological or emotional issues. 

You believe it to be more to do with the free loving, and free spirited hippie era.  

Our parent’s were running away from something (i.e. parents etc.).  

Our parent’s sincerely wanted to do something to serve God and help mankind 

Our parent’s had a completely different reason which I haven’t listed.
