Cool Christmas present idea!
Looking for an offbeat Christmas present? How about some real estate...ON THE MOON!!! Pick up an acre for $20..how could you go wrong?

Here's CNN's article about it from November 2000:
http://www.cnn.com/2000/TECH/space/11/20/lunar.land/index.html

It's also been featured in heaps of other magazines, newspapers and TV shows as well.

does every jackass have/need their own section?
I'd like to see ideas for other off-topic sections, with dumb-ass themes like "Can't find free porn anymore?" "Dumbass things I did this weekend" "Daily affirmation" "Love words (that you don't have to say to Jesus)"

anymore ideas?   (reply to this post)

re.gifAuty, October 4, 2002, 20:22
Yeah yeah yeah
This is me laughing all the way to the bank! :-)

And I don't appreciate being called a jackass, BTW.

re.gifmarcuss, October 4, 2002, 18:06

I'm sure you could request a loving jesus section of your very own. you can search free porn on any number of websites if that's what your interested in as well.

attempt
I would like to suggest a "Daily Disaffirmations" column. I would nominate Alf to wield his keyboard on this one, but if he should decline I am sure an author can be found among the eager dissers, parade rainers and equal-opportunity detractors that loiter on this site.

Putting this under "Getting Support" would be amusing, along with other stuff like, "moving out of the trailer park"

That's such a great idea . . .

re.gifmonkeyfart, October 4, 2002, 18:49
concept corner
Idea One: "Tales of the Cribt*" (or Crypt, Crybt, Crib, Krypt) in which sordid tales of mass orgies (sharing* nights), group spanking sessions (including reps, quantities & post-spanking bum descriptions), other weird punishments (like "silence restriction" & wearing signs or badges all day, standing on one leg, duck walk, scrubbing toilets with a toothbrush) or details of implements of pain often affectionately named by the “shepherds” (such as boat oars aka “the paddle”, coat hangars, fly swatters, tree branches, shoes, flip-flops, belts, modified bread boards, application of tape to mouths), could be told. This of course not to limit any other tales of indiscreet or unlawful behaviour seen or experienced on an individual level or some of the “road trips”, exorcisms, forced-fastings, creative sex-ed classes, ”provisioning” or procuring meals/ hotel rooms, & even some memories of seeing our parents “FF’ing” (being prostitutes) & some of the precious “Fish” they introduced us to.

In an effort to not stray too much into the realm of fiction, other people could perhaps vote on whether (a) the story (or similar) had been experienced by themselves and/or (b) whether the story (or similar) had been heard or would be believable. Obviously, some of tales told would probably be embellished or even completely far-fetched depending on the author, however if the story’s were rated by others, the amount of probable truth will probably be quite interesting. It could just be a trial section & if no one contributes in say a month then take it off. Anyways, if it sound’s like a good idea perhaps someone could tell Jules & see whether she thinks it’s appropriate for her site.

memory lane and other ideas
MF (and anyone else), basically the way it's been working for sections is that people have suggested topics, which I will set up if they will edit them. Would someone like to be the editor for this one? If you do, then send me a title, intro and picture and I'll set it up.
(reply to this post)

re.gifmonkeyfart, October 8, 2002, 02:09
may the real J.A. please stand up
Thanks for clarifying that Jules. Actually the intention of my post was to give Joe H (or any other jackass) an idea for their own section. - Trying to help!

Personally I find teknickollogy and the thought of being an editor quite appealing (I'm very well read), however the quantum physical properties of web design and article posting can be quite daunting and are known to cause EXTREME mental exertion so I must therefore presently decline to grapple the reigns of editorial control & leave it to those less cranially challenged than I.

Free Food?
The embarrassment of going to a snobbish restaurant in France for lunch during a day of witnessing. So uncle Jonathan, once he was done stuffing his face, told my older brother that now would be a good time to provision the meal, which by now was lodged deep in our bellies.

Love Hotels, etc.
Being on the road and provisioning love hotels, sneaking all five of the kids in after the car was parked in the hidden garage, squishing into one bed or having to sleep on the floor while, in some cases, the adults did more than "sleep" in the bed!

I have this memory of my first few days at Osaka school when I was 12. At the time, there was a massive teen group and no place for us to sleep. So every night we'd clear the chairs and tables from the dining room and sleep there. At first, our male teen shepherd's wife was at some other home, but then she came back one night and I had the misfortune of sleeping at the foot of that teen shepherd's futon on the floor. I awoke to the only time I've ever peered into the dark depths of a woman....

Etc.

Needless to say, I could not face either of them for some time. When I'd see his wife around, she had "kunt" written all over her--no way around it.

Come to think of it, there are probably zillions of funny (or not so funny) stories about those huge rooms with wall-to-wall futons. Although maybe we only had that in Japan because they don't really have futons in other places.

re.gifAuty, October 7, 2002, 16:43
Oh the Shame
My worst experience on a road trip consisted of 1 adult, 1 teen (me) and 2 JETTs being dropped off at a rest stop in Japan. After 3 hours of trying to hitch a ride to the smallest god-forsaken village by the ocean we finally arrived to find the most hostile enviroment. We stayed up until the sun came up knocking on doors (hotels, motels, love-hotels AHHHHH) to NO avail! The only place we could find to sleep was under a beach awning on tatami mats. Hot & dirty we were able to "sleep-in" until about 8:30 when everyone started coming to the beach. Needless to say, it was a complete waste of time, we hitched a ride back to the home, hungry and tired. Unfortunately, after much prayer from the adult on the team he came to the conclusion that the reason the trip went so badly was because of me (I was one of those rebellious types) and so I was placed on the dirt jobs with lots of prayer and fasting for a week.

I absolutely hated road trips, postering, tapenessing ("go give the nice man a hug sweetie!"), videoing, door-to-door, shop-to-shop blah blah blah!

Thank god I was put on "secretarial" work for years. I also hated childcare! The shepherds knew the worst thing they could do to me was sending me out postering or put me on childcare for even an hour while someone had their Word time. EWWWWWW! Bad flash backs!

I have a hard time being nice to solicitors and anyone else who comes knocking at my door asking for a hand-out.

gotta love those parks
I had pretty much the same experience, only it was myself and two other guys. I was 15 and the only one who spoke Japanese and that only somewhat. The 'home' got a prophecy that we should go 'househunting'. Mind you this is two 15 year olds and a 'SGA'. It was like the joke of the century. Course I was told it was 'the Lord's will' I mean, what the hell could go wrong? We hadn't even gotten an hour away from the house before we were in a jam. We hitchhiked to the wrong rest area, which got us stuck there for 12 hours trying to get a ride to a place that was 2 hours away. Eventually a guy took pity on us and drove us there. We got there at 12pm, too late for the check in counters of any normal hotels. So of course 'love hotels' was our only option. I soon discovered two things. The Japanese word for gay, and the fact that they are not welcome in love hotels. We ran till 4 in the morn when we gave up and slept in the park...to awaken to the locals walking their dogs and jogging. The rest of the day was a total disaster...we went hungry needless to say. We were saved by the fact that we ran into some other members from another area who took us into their camper and drove us home. This is part one. I have a part two that was similar and only different cause there was one more guy and we were headed further away with a car...

jah....and the joke is I'm sitting on a computer at none other than 'rockies' itself. The good news is that I've finally persuaded the ex-fams that live here to move out! Hurrah! I will take pictures of the demolition and post them somewhere for all to see...our painful memories will live on though.

memories
I'm the exact same way, I look at solicitors in disgust.
Your post brought back a flash back. one time when I was on a road trip with this big fat german uncle. we could't find a hotel(not even a love hotel)to sleep in so we slept on the beach under an awning on a tatami mat. there was a baby kitten underdeath and this *shiner* german uncle grabed it and through it in the ocean. When everyone else woke up he even bragged about it. What a sick fuck!!!! He was also having sex with one of the japanese deciples in front of all of us. it was so common to see individuals "sharing" that when we got home I told his wife. Later on I got in trouble for that and I never understood why? hahahahah!!!!

Same here, and I always let people who are about to give a long speech (breast cancer, blind people and co.) know that I can't/won't help BEFORE the speech ensues, as I remember the agony of 'postering' to peopel who seemed really keen & I'd be thinking "Yes, please God, please God, a big donation " & then at the end they'd say, "I give to my church or the like. Truly dreadful experiences!!!

Puberty
Yes! The worst was when I was a very, very shy and introverted 14 year old, and had to go dtd or sts with an "auntie" who was one foot shorter than me, wore glasses that were too big for her (probably following Mama's example in the KidzMop drawings)and for good measure, had a big pimple on the tip of her nose (no, this is not made up!)One day seemed to take a lifetime and we were glad when we came home with at least one kids tape sold, one soul won (whom I had to hold hands with, bow my head, close my eyes and have them repeat after me), and minus two cheese sandwiches!

Mammon Rocks
I hear ya! I remember the agony well. I am glad I don't have to fret every two weeks "Yes, please God, please God, my paycheck!" If I have worked, I know what I will be getting and I am not at the mercy of anybody's pity or charity. Now I just need to learn that even when people aren't being all nice at work it's not the end of the world, I will still get that paycheck!

no shit!
funny how much we appreciate the basic stuff systemites completely take for granted. I remember some bosses used to say to me at the end of a shift "Thanks for all you help today" and I was like "Well that's what you're paying me for dumbass!" I worked some really shitty jobs but the compensation factor made them bearable, because let's face it, we've done much worse for no pay! I can't wait to be a spoiled systemite yuppie, the kind that randomly morphs into a blood-soaked vandari and eats family members!

Sorry for the "stream-of-consciousness" post.
