Does anyone know how to search comments?
Does anyone know how to find comments using google.com? If I remember right you had to put the etxt you were searching for in parentheses and then write "site:Movingon.org". That doesn't seem to work for me, though.

hi sam,

Never mind parentheses or anything, you can just enter your keywords and then filter by site as you already know how. If you're looking for combination of words in a specific order, enclose your search in double quotes. You can of course also search using the wildcard character * (asterisk).

Stuck in the closet...er...chatroom
Some browsers will not log the user out of the chatroom if the user closes the chat window. This may leave the user "stuck" and prevent them from logging back in.

To log out of the chat room if you get stuck in it, simply log on to the website with the same account that is stuck and click on the "log out of chatroom" link on the right. If you don't see that link refresh the page. If you still don't see it, you're not logged in.

After you click on that link, it should let you log back into the chatroom.

I will try to fix this problem soon, but in the meantime, you can log yourself out using the above mentioned link.

Seeing as comments are being blocked all over the place
It's been about a year since I've posted anything on this site and was only brought to posting something here when I received two unexpected emails from Tuneman7.

Just to make things clear, I ONLY POSTED HERE AS A COURTESY TO TUNEMAN WHEN IT SEEMED HIS MOVINGON EMAIL HAD BEEN AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDED TO ME IN ERROR- I don’t know if this is a virus issue or someone who has had unauthorized access to his computer or if it was just a mistake. I’m writing this explanation because when I went to respond to Tuneman7 it seems his article has been blocked from any further comments (geeez this site has changed, what happened to just using the Trailer Park – is that not enough control for you editors?)

It seems I've walked into some kind of on-going battle as people were automatically slagging off Tuneman7 when I mentioned this issue, and Tuneman7's (if that indeed was Tuneman7) comment was sort of left of centre, about the need to stop someone named Silas in ASCRO, someone who apparently has a 22 year old concubine named Kristy.

I'm not going to give the editors of this site any more fuel to their indignant desires to block comments/ articles and send barely inflammatory remarks to the trailer bin. I don't know perhaps it feeds a dwindling sense of self-importance in some people. Anyhow I'm not wasting anymore time on this site, I already explained my one simple reason for posting a comment.

Best of luck to everyone. To Rain Child, thanks for the kind remarks, you have my email address & we should keep in touch. To everyone upset with Tuneman7, I hope what you've said about him is a misunderstanding, because I know I'd be pissed-off if indeed any of that were true. To Tuneman7 (if that was indeed you posting under your Martin Luther King article), dude you don't have to feel responsible for changing the world. You can't change trailer trash, trailer trash has to want to change itself before you can help (with what little any one of us can help). I guess what I'm saying is that the culture in The Family is such that people like Silas can have their way with young 22 year old girls (or younger) and the girls probably actually believe they are attracted to them, and yes its probably sick and horrible, but its life and its a result of a lack of education and contact with the outside world that goes back generations. The only cure in my opinion is hopefully a chance that young people in The Family will become educated, and lose their fear of the outside world (or their sense of identity as being separate from the outside world).

To all those still in The Family, there is genuinely so much more to life outside the narrow-mindedness, and ridiculous rules and confines of The Family.

It's an interesting situaiton, any time you're in California come by my place and we'll chill and reminisce of the gilla monster that terrorized our infinitely small world back in the days.

The issue with Silas is that he is a serial predator, I do not trust for one moment that he is not utilizing the services of minors (raping little girls and boys) in the Far East, when he thinks he can get away with it.

I have a very strange gift, a photographic memory, I record most things that are interesting to me. I recorded everything I could about Silas, the man is dangerous, an addict from the word go. I didn't realize what it was until I processed the data in retrospect with some university under my belt as context for "normal" thinking.

It's true I've done some things wrong, like getting a speeding ticket from a cop with my godson in the car. So what? I haven't lied to anyone, stolen from anyone, raped anyone, etc. ...

So these bitches can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. Weird thing about these ex-fam girls, all want to be treated like "normal" girls, but the second that you start to do so they simply use that as a pretext for their pathologies in my experience. The fact that their pathologies are the byproduct of abuse doesn't make me feel any worse about the time I've wasted on them.

I've found that I get a lot of respect from women in the world when I treat them with respect. I find that I've gotten a lot of unearnt disrespect from these clowns with agendas. Whatever.

I apologize that my actions came across as "indignant desires to block comments/articles". This is sincerely not the case.

There is more to the issue at hand than what has taken place on this site and the thread was not trailer parked because of your comments or the responses to it. The article was temporarily closed to comments to give all parties involved some distance from the issues and it will be opened up again within the next few days.

This is not an action the admins would normally take, as it does set unwanted precedents. However, in this case we felt it would be unfair to the rest of the MovingOn participants to host a mudslinging fest that could just as easily be held at another public website.

I know it's bad form to get in a pissing match with the admin, but honestly, who died and made it your business to facilitate "distance" between willing quarrellers? It's not as if there's even been such an overabundance of useful contributions that you had to make room for them. In lieu of anything else going on, one might as well let the Intarweb Samurai duke it out. I feel blocking same was unfair to those of us who enjoy the thrust and parry (to say nothing of the vicious namecalling and backstabbing) of petty argument. :D

Anyway, movingon's your playpen, and I won't tell you what to build with your legos. But at least (pretty please) quit calling it Free Speech, mkay? Kthxbai.

PS, Rest easy, precedent was set with the Jim LaMattery thread some time ago.

There is much more to this issue than what is posted on this site. Relatively little of what was posted has been blocked or made private (the article mentioned above was re-opened several days ago), but I guess regardless of what action (or lack of it) is taken someone will be unhappy with it.

As for your comments on free speech, I refer you to FAQ #9, which has been posted here since this site began: http://www.movingon.org/faqs.asp#9

Lastly, I only wish this matter were as simple as that with Jim LaMattery.

Besides which, the "Personal feuds, drunken ramblings, temper tantrums and obscene thoughts" contributed by our finest are frankly some of the most entertaining things about this site. Once you start arbitrating taste, where does it stop before you become just like TF?

I think this sites maintenance has been somewhat lacking lately.

Car questions and answers? wtf!? And the link to Ricky's video is dead. Didn't check the others.

Why have all double spaces in posts(i.e after a period) been given the chop? That's gotta be breaking some sort of constituitonal right to free punctuation. It serves no purpose other then to make posts harder to read quickly.

And I'm really truly sick of seeing Thankyou's mug down the bottom of the page. I think he mistook this for the "Days of our Lives" auditions website? FIX THE PHOTO UPLOADS ALREADY!

Sigh...Where is Jules anyways.
