"my parents went and joined a cult" t-shirt: idea
Maybe we could have a model that says, after the bit about "and all I got was this lousy t-shirt," something like "...and I had to pay for it myself" (or some other dig at how our "parents" do not act like parents in very basic ways and how we are quite on our own).

| monkeyfart, August 18, 2002, 02:40 label for life! If you want to label yourself for life by something stupid your parents did go ahead. - Why identify yourself by something you hate? (reply to this post) | | lucid, August 18, 2002, 12:31 A Component of My Identity Has to do With Something I'm Proud to be Overcoming I don't identify myself by something I hate. Rather I am proud of the fact that more than 10 years ago, when confronted with another "breaking" and the (contradictory) order to exercise oversight over the younger people (so-called JETTS) who worked where I did, instead I managed to run away from a cult commune in a 3d world country, when I was a minor, at 4 am, with the clothes on my back. I am one tough cookie. I have since earned a college degree with assorted honors and prizes, and a professional degree. I get to have the hobbies I love and choose my friends, my job, my beliefs, something that I could not take for granted, and that I now appreciate more keenly than some of my friends who grew up so privileged. (reply to this post) | | MagicGreenPants, August 19, 2002, 15:38 Well done And now youre a smug self contented little shit. (reply to this post) | | lucidchick, August 26, 2002, 13:42 Not yet I'm not self-contented. (reply to this post) | | JohnnieWalker, August 20, 2002, 05:22 Solution? MGP, maybe if you sent lucidchick and C the photo of you that you sent me, this heated dialog with them would be resolved. They would immediately have the hots for you, be speechless and agree to every word you say. :) (JK) (reply to this post) | | C, August 19, 2002, 17:30 A perfect self-description for MGP. No, Magic, that would be you! Lucid is twice the person you will ever be. Maybe try reading a little more carefully, right to left, you may learn something. (reply to this post) | | Ella Vader, August 20, 2002, 14:10 Thanks for the Vitamin C! Hey, C, you're fab! Next time my self-esteem is low I'll nominate you as president of my fan club! But we really have no idea what fabulous things MGP is capable of. I don't want to take a snapshot of today and project it on to forever (or we'd be doing like the Family when they acted like we were NEVER going to be as adult as they were). (reply to this post) | | C, August 18, 2002, 18:35 Proud to be Yes, Luc, you're definitely a tough cookie! I wish the COG would've tried the blatant defamation, imputing unchasity to a female, libel per se and the various other civil torts they committed against you now, rather than when you were just a child and unable to legally and financially defend yourself. The COG would have been taken to the cleaners civilly, now that you're established and able to properly defend yourself. One day, though, one sweet day, they'll pay for what they did to you and others like you. Thank God for people like you! It's because of you, that others, who were younger than you, suffered less. Thank you! Thank you for what you endured, so others had to endure less. You're absolutely one tough cookie! (reply to this post) | | lucid, August 18, 2002, 12:15 A T-Shirt is Removable at Will The label is on the T-Shirt for its life, not on me for my life, and I can even throw the blasted thing out if I want. OK? (reply to this post) | | jpmagero, August 10, 2002, 16:02 love it Sounds good. (reply to this post) | | Ian, August 17, 2002, 23:24 I like that would put all kinds of stuff in it We could do something like "My parents went and joined a cult and all I got was this shitty t-shirt, and I had to pay for it, because they were lousy parents. Then we could just break off into any random monologue (in the example below I think the author was Sunny James, but it doesn't matter, any long winded rambling will work). So it would be something like this..... "My parents went and joined a cult and all I got was this lousy T-shirt and I had to pay for it, and................ I make no assumptions that this trifle of a passing theory will make any lasting impression on mine or anyone else’s consciousness, but then again maybe that’s all the god factor is anyway—something to keep us guessing. A non-Family-related friend of mine—an anthropologist—and I were discussing the origins of life the other day. I was brushing up on some of the finer points of Darwinism while revealing to Dom, my friend, that according to my dentist, evolution is taking place right under our very eyes! –In our mouths, as a matter of fact. Due to the comparatively sudden change in our species’ “grindage” (thanks Polly Shore) habits, humans are growing fewer molars. Our grandparent’s generation had up to three more sets of molars than our children will have; I have one more set than my son. Oh, and mouths are getting smaller. Makes you wonder: if everything affects the evolution of everything else, me thinks certain things will have to shrink in order to fit into the ever shrinking mouths. (reply to this post) |
