| from Haunted Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - 08:35 (Agree/Disagree?) Thank you Marlene for your post and your concern to help those who have chosen to move on from a religious high-demand organization. The transition can be very daunting and we welcome any help. I think the problem with "retreats" such as these for most of us is mainly an issue of travel, support and financial concerns however as most of us left rather young and many have families and careers etc... and thus are unable to take "time out" and attend workshops such as these. It is good to know though that there are organizations where one can turn to. Again, thank you for the post and we will be sure to pass on the information and make it available to ex-members of "The Family" and other groups via RISE and SPF. (reply to this comment)
| From murasaki Friday, July 18, 2008, 02:18 (Agree/Disagree?) Add to that the fact that many of us do not have family support structures in place to offer financial and other resources if our parents have remained in the group. I like the idea of this type of thing and your rates do seem reasonable. I think for grown up survivors of high demand organizations you may need to bear in mind that it's likely to rankle that as survivors and victims we now need to outlay financially for support in our own recoveries. | | from Moonsetter Saturday, July 12, 2008 - 11:42 (Agree/Disagree?) Leave the fold and become part of yours? I'm no sheep, thank you. I can get through life on my own. (reply to this comment)
| from steam Saturday, July 12, 2008 - 11:06 (Agree/Disagree?) The problem Marlene with your post (which if you are an expert on high demand groups i.e. cults you should be aware of), is that it sounds to much like a cult "fellowship" with "bonding", and "skits" and learning lessons etc. I am sure you have done plenty of good in your time, but this post makes me shudder.
