Getting Through : Creative Writing
Untouched | from Jules - Thursday, September 19, 2002 accessed 8028 times You took my innocence, But you cannot touch my idealism. You took my faith, But you cannot take my hope. You took my parents, But you cannot touch my children. You took my childhood, But you cannot steal my youth. You took my companions, But you cannot take my friends. You took my schooling, But you cannot stop my learning. You took my confidence, But you cannot touch my success. You took my certainty, But you cannot take my dreams. You took my body, But you cannot break my spirit. You took my words, But you cannot silence my voice. Each day is an empty page, And I hold the pen. |

| from out at last Monday, February 21, 2005 - 13:57 (Agree/Disagree?) wow...thats all i can say...wow well done, that poem gets everything every single overcomer wants to say in the open, and in a few sentences. absolutly moving, rock on (reply to this comment)
| from Joey Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 05:52 (Agree/Disagree?) Reading this makes me happy in the realization that you are in such a beautiful place. The human spirit is something that they try to portray in films and try to explain and describe to those who have never had the need to access that primal place in their makeup. One of the great things about having been pushed into such an extreme situation is that I know what the human spirit is and that it is alive and well in me for one and realizing that so many others have grabbed ahold of theirs as well leaves me with a sense of hope for the futures of others. I have to say that after hearing of Ricki's passing I feel shaken. My solid base is held up by but a few pins and this has bent one of those pins. He was like a surreal brother and I always hoped that one day when the old bastard of a father of his had died a suitably slow and painful death that he would take over and right the wrongs. Bathe in the peace that comes in passing brother of mine, The scattered and sketchy rear wall of your mind can now finally be wipped clean and hang from the windows to your soul like ornamental curtains taking pride of place. | from Cultinvator Monday, July 07, 2003 - 02:34 (Agree/Disagree?) I like the ending, just remember that you hold the pen, but the ink runs out on it's own. Our true self is greater than our conceived one. (reply to this comment)
| from Cultinvator Monday, July 07, 2003 - 02:30 (Agree/Disagree?) Even though I've heard some of the lines slightly differently before, you've done good work of making it your own original experience. (reply to this comment)
