Show you a play of familiar parts? Would you hold on to a mistaken vow? Love is tearing us apart You’re holding on in desperation, Your suppressed tears Leading to frustration, In the day you are so far Surpassing rejection, At night you hold me so close To reinsure my affection. There is still this appeal That has kept us together A desire so real Underneath just a vain reflection. In the darkness I feel My failings at heart Love is tearing us apart What we both want is out of reach, Distant expectations of us together Our desires already breached. Emotions won’t grow Your soul saddens with grief. In a moment we are changing, As we stand face-to-face one last time, Your smiles now fading. I say the words that accompany your tears The suspense is falling, the sky is hailing. We embrace our greatest fears As Love tears us apart |
