Getting Through : Creative Writing
Who I am | from Banshee - Monday, April 14, 2003 accessed 1232 times I guess this sounds a little confused, because sometimes I am. Do I know who I am? I am a child Without a childhood; I am a daughter Without a father; I am a son Who does not know his Mother; I am a sibling Of too many others. I am alive Without having lived; I have a name Without an identity; I have friends Who can not know me; I have a past That is not a part of me. I am whole Yet made of broken parts; I am young But old by what I’ve seen; I have lived many places But to home I’ve never been; I was a prisoner, Now I am learning to be free. I stand alone In the middle of a crowd; I may be different, Yet I am anything but ordinary: I am brave When terrified to be; I am strong When I could be weak; I am walking through What cripples some; I am conquering What many would only run from. I have come in to the race Behind the rest of the world. Stride by stride I am catching up; I am holding my own. Though at times I may stand alone, I stand above . In all that I have become, I am at last learning Who I am. |
