It's strange to see, those kids are maturing in a strange way, what with all the makeup and outlining and gangsta dressing, and some of them don't look older than 13. When my Mom visited us in Japan about 7 years ago, we stayed at GF in Tokyo, and she told us "All the kids here dress like they're in a gang!" Anyone else remember back to that age, 13-18? If I had dressed like those kids, or worn makeup as heavy as Cleopatra, it would have been considered worldliness and a hunger for the things of the world, followed by a good lecture, perhaps a few days of prayer and fasting to cast out the demons of the world that had possessed me. Maybe they existed outside Thailand, but they looked like something out of the movie "Grease". I of course didn't have either, and therefore was firmly relegated to the status of geek. Actually, I think before the 1940s reissue cat glasses, there were the must-have cheap gold-painted fake 1980s Ray-bans -- of course I the ubergeek never aquired these either, although every now and then would put on someone else's to steal a look at myself in the mirror and wonder what it would have been not to be a pathetic 13-yr old geek.
