I was thinking "Pakanah", I have no idea what that is in english, but it's definitly not a carrot. (reply to this comment)
| from Joe H Monday, April 12, 2004 - 16:36 (Agree/Disagree?) "We are after all, different from everyone else." And just as often, we're different from each other as well. Those of you who refuse to see that and are fascinated with what makes us the same are in a new kind of cult, one which I won't be joining. (reply to this comment)
| | | From Jerseygirl Tuesday, April 13, 2004, 12:51 (Agree/Disagree?) Amazing! I actually agree! (whoops better watch those exclamations) Trying to find something "deep" or thought provoking from a boring repost is kind of reaching a little. I think that if we want to find things in common as ex-culties there are a lot of other things more worth the time than what vegetables we collectively think of. And good for sara for not thinking of carrots!(reply to this comment) |
| | | | From Agreed Monday, April 12, 2004, 19:44 (Agree/Disagree?) Those who are paranoid about How I Am Different are as messed up as those who demand We are All the Same. People who have the courage to say This Is Who I Am, regardless of what anyone else thinks are the ones who are truly brave. You are not that brave. Your cowardice is noted. Don't bash those who are not as scared as you. (reply to this comment) |
| | | | from Jules Monday, April 12, 2004 - 14:37 (Agree/Disagree?) I've seen this before and I did think carrot. I think I received this in one of those "wasting company time" emails you get from someone at work, so in the spirit of things I sent it to my colleagues and most of them thought carrot too. There has to be some correlation between the number six and the word carrot. I've been trying to figure this one out. Carrot has six letters, but so do the names of other vegetables. My first thought was that there is a linguistic link between the two words, but I don't see it. However I was reduced to tears by my attempts to learn the IPA chart so what do I know? My best guess is that the number 6 looks a bit like a bunny ear. Bunny ear > rabbit > carrot? Bugs Bunny Land > Six Flags? Carrots keep for up to 6 months? All of those are a bit of a stretch I know. Any geniuses out there who can figure out the correlation? (reply to this comment)
| | | | | From Ne Oublie Thursday, July 15, 2004, 07:38 (Agree/Disagree?) I wonder if in this case any correlation between the two is entirely incidental. I think that the reason this works is because carrots are one of the most common vegetables, particularly in the English-speaking world. In most cases, were I asked to name a vegetable (even without the introduction) I would say carrot. Ironically, the first time I heard this joke was one of the few times that I didn't say carrot!(reply to this comment) |
| | | | From Jules Thursday, July 15, 2004, 23:41 (Agree/Disagree?) banal darling, you poor girl. There are much better sex toys out there than carrots. Speaking of vegetables, I am reminded of a poem from my childhood (I have no idea where it is from, or why I remember it--I am guessing though that this one was not from the Kidz MOP). "Something happened to my cousin Jim when somebody threw a tomatoe at him now tomatoes are juicy and don't hurt the skin but this one was specially wrapped in a tin." (reply to this comment) |

| | | from Shackled Monday, April 12, 2004 - 01:17 (Agree/Disagree?) I think for the majority of us, the first vegetable that comes to mind will be one that we had shoved down our throats. Or whatever vegetable, on the verge of rotten, that was stocked in the pantry. I know I hardly ever saw carrots. (reply to this comment)
| from Ne Oublie Monday, April 12, 2004 - 01:06 (Agree/Disagree?) spinach (reply to this comment)
