Not Another exCOG Site!

from Jules - Saturday, May 12, 2001

Well, yet another exers site is launching. What's new here? This site is a non-censored, irreverent look at life after The Family. It's written by youth (well, mostly me at the moment), for youth. If you were born in the Family, or joined because you were a minor and your parents did, then hang out and post some content. If you joined the Family due to your own burning desire to change the world/have sex/endlessly fundraise, then please go away. (If you don't know what the Family is, then click here, and then please go away.)

Believe it or not, I do this (create websites) for a living. Thank God I work for a company that I have to go to every day, because as a freelancer I would suck. I've been thinking about this site for 3 years, and just haven't been able to get around to doing it.

By now there is quite a collection of former member sites on the web, (mostly extremely lame, IMO--no offense to those who host them). The purpose of this site is not to attack or defend the Family, but a place to talk about the reality of our experiences and where we go from here.
The idea is for a site that is for second generation former members by second generation former members. When I first left, it took awhile to get on my feet and even now, going on 6 years later, I still feel pretty clueless sometimes about things everyone else seems to have down pat. How the hell do people balance a budget, pay down a mortgage, raise a family, stay in shape, plan their career, manage their house, balance a portfolio, get an education and have a social life on their own?

This site is non-censored, and nothing will be deleted from it, except for things that may cause technical problems for the site or the users. It's not supposed to be taken too seriously, and if something offends you, don't read it. Let's face it, our entire upbringing was rather ridiculous, so try to keep a sense of humour about things.

The scripting, coding and design of this site was done by yours truly and knowing me, it's going to be a work in progress, if you find errors or "random features", please let me know at the contact email at the bottom of the page. The categories are areas I thought might be of interest. I will be adding the ability to submit new categories for this site sometime soon.

Who am I? Well a female former member, born and raised for 20 years. I live in Canada, love ice-fishing, excel in the annual polar bear hunt, and sincerely apologise to the world for Tom Green.

Well enjoy, and your positive suggestions and comments are welcome, absolutely no criticism allowed. :-P

(Agree/Disagree?)
I strongly agree.

Jen, a friend of Sarafina's who has never been in the group helped tremendously in the planning process, and getting all the catering together. We could not have done it without her. Basically she completely saved our rear ends.

Thank you Jen, for showing solidarity, love and affection. Sarafina couldn't have a better friend.

Some you listed I would not apologise for, (if I was to apologise) William Shatner on the other hand...

With all the apologies, you're getting the right idea. I did not want to mention all those folks, but since you're on a role, can you throw in Peter Jennings, Celine, Alanis, Shania, and Bare Naked Ladies -- and don't forget Bryan Adams, a la South Park. Blame Canada!

To Reader: I could, but then I'd have to apologise for Dan Aykroyd, Brendan Fraser, Leslie Nielsen, Pamela Anderson, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, William Shatner... When would it end?
