| from scorpion Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 15:35 (Agree/Disagree?) Hey, what are your strong points, do you have any experience, do you have any certifications, and what level of education do you have. if you don't want to answer all that for the public to see, email me through my profile. I could probably set you up with something in Japan. As for a place to live, I do business overseas and am hardly ever in the country but one of my houses in Japan is open, so if your interested email me. (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | from whoami Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 12:27 (Agree/Disagree?) Hi thank you all for your help and advice . This is for all who wrote me. I know I havenīt given any details of who I am but its because I canīt I really find it hard trusting at times, yes I am an ex-member since quite awhile ago yet I havenīt really been able to start from zero hasnīt been easy. I am in england or soon to be better said. I still am seeking depends on where I find a good job and a place to get settled. | From sar Thursday, June 26, 2008, 02:14 (Agree/Disagree?) If you're English, you're better off staying in England while you get sorted. That way you can always fall back on income support or welfare if you have to. And there are loads of jobs available. If you want to get work in a shop or a pub, just go in and ask. Most will want prior experience, but its not usually mandatory. You just have to give them the imression that you can do the job. Have your CV with you so you can leave them a copy. Just go down a street asking at each one. There are plenty of jobs to be had at call centres as well. These usually don't require prior experience. It is extremely dull work, but the pay's okay, usually 6-8 pounds per hour. When doing telesales, sometimes there are bonuses when you make a certain number of sales. Its also seems to be fairly easy to get promoted. Cleaning jobs are usually through agencies. They tend to pay minimum wage. Its usually foreigners that can't speak English that take these jobs and you will often have to put in more hours than you are actually paid for. I think you would able to find something a bit better. Secretarial and admin work is also usually through agencies. I started out this way. I got my CV together and registered at 30-50 agencies. They generally want A-levels, but its not a requirement if you're skills are there. Don't blag too much on this one as they test most things. They always test typing speed and they usually test numerousy, spelling, word, excel and powerpoint skills - depending on what level of job you're applying for. I didn't have any success trying to start out at the beginning when applying direct to companies. Worth a shot, but I would recommend the agency route as well. Oh, also, a permanent address is a must. If you don't have one, try to find someone that will let you use theirs. The closer to central london the better. Give the agency the impression that you live there. They don't like the homeless gag. :) If you want to go the secretarial/admin route, I'm happy to give you help you out. Getting your CV right is the main thing - and knowing when to blag and when not to. You're CV ought to be tailored to what you're applying for. Don't put cleaning on your CV if you're applying for secretarial work, but do if you're applying for a cleaning job. Look in a paper, even a free one and go through the jobs section, caling anything that you think you might be able to convince them that you can do. Most of this is obvious, but we did grow up in a bubble. Oh, also, those door to door sales jobs that are advertised are usually scams. :) Good luck.(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | from neez Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 06:25 (Agree/Disagree?) I suspect this position is still vacant: http://www.chaosmatrix.org/library/humor/reject.html (reply to this comment)
| from rainy Wednesday, June 18, 2008 - 23:54 (Agree/Disagree?) Hijacking again...seriously we need a spot where we can just post links we think the community would like. Then I wouldn't have to hijack. Although I think this article can only be improved by my intrusion. Anyway, here it is: the recurring theme of all my childhood nightmares was being made to go along with whatever my group was doing, usually resulting in death. This one is called Field Trip to Heaven. http://www.slowwave.com/index.php?date=08-05-31 (reply to this comment)
| from Moonsetter Wednesday, June 18, 2008 - 16:56 (Agree/Disagree?) Come to Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are many entry-level vacancies available in industrial warehousing. Pay rates of 10-14 dollars an hour. Not extraordinary, but decent enough to get you started in the game of life. (reply to this comment)
| From rze Thursday, June 26, 2008, 19:01 (Agree/Disagree?) HFX is tiny; how do we not know who you are? There are a few of us around here at the moment -- ex-cult babies/SGA's/whatever you call it (have been out for a while). Give a shout! And I don't recommend moving to Halifax. Minimum wage jobs are plentiful, sure. Minimum is VERY minimum and post-sec costs are some of the highest (if not the highest) in the country.(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From Moonsetter Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 20:26 (Agree/Disagree?) Ahem. No. Industrial warehousing = order picking, shipping, operating forklift etc. Women generally don't go for this kind of work, as it can be physically demanding. Regardless, it is not hard to find work in this part of Canada, as thousands of people have moved out for Alberta, leaving behind many job vacancies. Just don't become a Walmart employee, unless you're retarded - in which case they'd hire you on the spot.(reply to this comment) |
| | from sounds facetious Wednesday, June 18, 2008 - 15:56 (Agree/Disagree?) Join the club pal! Hey, if I figure out who-you-are, is there some sort of cash award involved?? Im thinking your best bet is Reno. (reply to this comment)
| from exfamily Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - 10:00 (Agree/Disagree?) The company I work for has openings all the time. It all depends on your location, of course. (reply to this comment)
| | | From exfamily Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 14:00 (Agree/Disagree?) Location is London. Job is IT/helpdesk related. There are two sorts of roles that are often open - one is technical, the other only requires competence in basic computer skills (I believe we're recruiting for at least one of the types of roles at the moment). Both are entry-level positions. One pays Ģ16k, the other starts at Ģ18k. I cannot help with (finding) a place to stay; you can use gumtree.com for that. If you're interested, send me an email through my profile.(reply to this comment) |
| | from Snufkin Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - 08:48 (Agree/Disagree?) My firm has several vacancies for legal secretaries and an accounts clerk/administrator You dont really say much about where you live what xp you have etc. A little more info might help you get something useful. (reply to this comment)
| | | from Nancy Pelosi Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - 07:00 (Agree/Disagree?) We're looking for a new President. We've decided that 217 days is too much to wait, are you up for it? You will find that an ability to control your temper around reporters, and joke about bombing Iran will help, as will the ability to write feel good speeches for any occasion. Give me a call if you're up for the challenge. (reply to this comment)
| | | from Sharon Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - 06:12 (Agree/Disagree?) Where are you? How old are you? Do you have any prior job experience? What can you do? What are you interested in? Do you have any education? Are you an ex-member? If so, what sort of things did you do in the family? Sometimes it's possible to translate (aka twist) family experience into job experience for resume purposes until you have actual work experience. Do you have any references or anyone that can vouch for you? Resume? (reply to this comment)
| From whoami Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 12:52 (Agree/Disagree?) Yes I have education although the basics only, what i did in the family, oh about a bit of everything. YOu know cook, clean although I am very good at ( and I add a plus to liking) working, talking selling etc... I love everything that has to do with face to face and direct contact with people although I like and can do I bit of everything.Does this help a bit?txs(reply to this comment) |
| | from steam Monday, June 16, 2008 - 16:40 (Agree/Disagree?) Let me explain a little something about job searching. If you give zero information about yourself. Not even your name or general location. You are not putting your best foot forward. Or, if that is your "best foot" you are unemployable. (reply to this comment)
