Getting Support : Speaking Out
Evidence of Evil | from Random - Tuesday, September 13, 2005 accessed 1509 times I would like to say first that my Current job is a Reverend for a church and I am aware that the last thing us ex family members want to hear is God or religion, but I love My job & I like doing research & proving wrong most religions that push agendas or tears down people. Jesus Christ was the biggest liberal & most compationate person that existed on this earth. I Do Respect all your thoughts & comments I wish that you feel free to think what you may, thats what sets us free from all the religion we have been thought. Organized Religion : Evidence of Evil? I got a bit of pushback from my very first blog post on organized religion and evil but recently I came across yet another example of evidence to support my argument that organized religion is simply an evil power structure whose main goal is to grow and maintain its own power putting its purported principles second to this primary goal... Whether or not it is part of their principle, Islam is a religion that severely discriminates against women. You could claim it is a sexist religion in practice...examples abound...women have very restrictive dress rules, women have restrictions on what they can do (e.g. driving) and women are not allowed to be in the presence of an unrelated male... These restrictions cause dilemmas for the religious leaders...for example - what happens when the husband dies and leaves his wife without an income? The all-knowing leaders have a solution...how about prostitution?...oh now, that's not allowed...well...lets call it "pleasure marriages" then, because marriage is allowed - right? These pleasure marriages can range in length from 1 hour to many years...the man and woman agree on the terms which always involve the man giving the woman money...hmmmmm sounds like...hipocrasy? |

| from Gothsmack Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 05:26 (Agree/Disagree?) Wasn't it Paul who said, "let women keep silence in the church"? Sounds to me like christianity is the religion that discriminates against women. (reply to this comment)
| From Ken Maret Wednesday, October 26, 2005, 04:49 (Agree/Disagree?) Excellent point! Let's put a few more out on the table while we're at it: "the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman the man" [1 Corinthians 11:3] "if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home" [1 Corinthians 14:35] "How then can man be justified with God? or, how can he be clean [that is] born of a woman?" [Job 25:4] "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man...for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God" [Deuteronomy 22:5] "That they may teach the young women...[To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands" [Titus 2:4-5] "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands...For the husband is the head of the wife...so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing." [Ephesians 5:22-24] "thy husband...he shall rule over thee" [Genesis 3:16] "If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child then she shall be unclean seven days... But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days." [Leviticus 12:5] "And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head - it is just as though her head were shaved." [1 Corinthians 11:5] "But women will be saved through childbearing - if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety." [1 Timothy 2:15] "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection." [1 Timothy 2:11] "Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression" [1 Timothy 2:14] "the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to [her] husband so long as he liveth" [Romans 7:2] Random, you wanna talk about Islam being a sexist religion? Many of those restrictions such as "dress rules" and what women can and can't do are ratified in your *own* book of fairy tales, you know. No wonder TF is such a paternally oriented cult centered around the total physical, sexual and psychological subjugation and enslavement of women. (Man....so many Christians, so few lions.....) | | from Ne Oublie Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 03:03 (Agree/Disagree?) Let's not confuse cultural and religious mores. The restrictions you speak of Muslim women living under have far more to do with their cultural background than Islam itself, many of which being more of the Arabic culture (which pre-dates Islam), or the culture in which the women were raised (be it Indo-Pakistani, Malay, African or even Chinese). Even within the Arab world there are varying cultural 'norms' - not every country is like Saudi Arabia. Similar to how many of the 'negative' traits associated with Christianity in actuality have more to do with the cultural environment of the Middle Ages than the religion itself, regional cultures have often been incorrectly enforced in the name of Islam. | from Lance Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 02:58 (Agree/Disagree?) I fail to see your point. What is it? First thing you must realize here is the ALL religion is disorganized, not the other way around. Secondly you must properly define this so-called evil that you speak of. Is it a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Taoist, or Shinto version of evil? (To name a few) And if you are talking about your Christian version of evil, what makes it evil for that religion to practice it? Perhaps you are practicing some diabolical lifestyle that some religions would call evil, does that make you evil? You don’t need religion to tell you that women deserve equal rights, that just common sense! (i.e. no evidence needed.) (reply to this comment)
