moving on

I was a member of the Children of God for three years in Europe from 1971-1974. I was saved in Amsterdam and joined up right away. I lived with the family communes in Denmark (Christania), the school in Sweden, in Stockholm, the Canary Island, and Sevilla.

I was not yet 18 when I joined, very counter culture. I fled the family when the MO letters began to creep me out with the flirty fish and child sexuality lines that I knew even then were exploitation and abuse of women and children a perverted man and some of his perverted followers. I was molested on different occassions by different men in the family. But, many of the folks I knew were decent and wonderful young people, and I hope that they found their various ways out.

It was not until a couple of years ago that I found the courage to find out what happened to the "larger family" that I left behind and learned of the widespread abuse. My heart goes out to all of you who were innocent childen and who were so hurt.
