Getting Real : Metalmania
The Reigning Kings of Symphonic Metal - Review of Sumerian Daemons | from JudasChrist - Sunday, July 11, 2004 accessed 1546 times This is the album that Dimmu Borgir wish they had put out with their Death Cult Armageddon. Dimmu is up there in my top ten favorite bands of all time, and until now, they were the kings of Symphonic Metal. After all, they are the progenitors of the Symphonic Black Metal sound, and I thought that the dark beauty that was Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (their magnum opus) could not be beat. Turns out I was wrong. Septic Flesh has put out one hell of an intense album that is a masterful blend of many metal genres; black, death, goth, doom, a wee bit o industrial, and of course, the symphonic element that ties it all together. The production is gorgeously done, and the overall feeling is seriously massive. If you like extreme metal that challenges the "established boundaries", get this album!!! |

| | | | | From JudasChrist Friday, March 25, 2005, 12:06 (Agree/Disagree?) Many bands have come and gone. Had impressive demos, trade tapes, ep/s, splits and albums, only to fall by the wayside. Let's see if Kataklysm can follow in Nile's footsteps and release classic after classic metal, in the death metal genre, ripping a new asshole in the sometimes bland genre of music. Listen to Sinister (superb Dutch Death Metal), ABorted (Belgian, technical, demonic SUPER heavy Death metal--album 2 get is Goremageddon), and of course.....The ULTIMATE..... EDGE OF SANITY Crimson (this album is a song which is precisely 40 minutes in length...melodic progressive death metal). Dan Swano plays all instruments... Crimson 2 (same deal here, except the Swedish melody masters in the Death genre make this offering 43 minutes and some seconds....) BLOODBATH This band is Swedish and features the singer of Katatonia on bass, Dan Swano the Mighty (singer for EDGE of SANITY), on vocals (for the 1st album), and Peter Tagtren of HYPOCRISY on the latest release. This band also features members of Opeth! They feature a very different sounding guitar sound/effect...It's awesomely addioting!!! I have TONS more suggestions, reccomendatiosn etc...Busy...(reply to this comment) |
