Getting Real : Speak your peace
The Family on Hurricane Katrina | from monger - Saturday, September 10, 2005 accessed 2013 times In a GN that came out yesterday, The Family published messages from Jesus claiming Katrina was part of America's coming "just judgment", and that it was fulfillment of Berg's "Death to the Cities" dream. Going further, Zerby makes the following claim: The persecution connection 54. (Mama:) The Lord also brought out the point that one reason for His hand of judgment on the U.S. was because of their vilification and persecution of the Family in the recent news articles, magazine articles, and TV shows. Although there have been articles in other countries, most of the lies and slander have been spread in and from the U.S., and the Lord was not pleased. --Karen Zerby, GN 1147 I've not yet read the entire GN so I'm not able to give a full synopsis, but here's the document: |

| from Albatross Thursday, September 15, 2005 - 21:04 (Agree/Disagree?) Let me see if I understand how this works: New Orleans, a city which as far as I know did not run an article on TF, is drowned for the sins of all the other evil US cities which ran articles on The Family. I'm curious, according to The Family, I'm one of the ones spending the most energy on attacking them. Why has god not struck me down? As it turns out my life is going fantastically. I'm at a top university, I live in a 2600 sq foot loft, I just had a glass of 25 year old Blue Label JW Scotch to celebrate my 10th year aniversary out of TF, "and tonight we're gonna have ice cream"! Some poor grandma is drowning in NO because the city that she lived in happened to be a known as party town? Some sick baby is dying without meds because god is pissed at America? Thank you Zerby for reminding me why 10 years ago to the day, I made the best decision I'll ever make. I know that god does not punish "evildoers" because Zerby and her Politburo of pedophiles are still roaming the earth. Note to Davis and Borowik: More media articles to come. | from So Be a Happy Helper Thursday, September 15, 2005 - 13:27 (Agree/Disagree?) Just in case anybody is interested in seeing what TFI says out of the other side of their mouth after seeing what it says out of one side of its mouth. http://www.katrinareliefhome.com/ (reply to this comment)
| from gadderblaster Thursday, September 15, 2005 - 08:29 (Agree/Disagree?) huh...there was just a huge gay pride parade here in copenhagen a few weeks ago...funny tho...theres been nothing but sunshine. (reply to this comment)
| from exister Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 13:01 (Agree/Disagree?) Funny how the Lord brings up "points" like he's having a BS Monday morning meeting like any other boss in Corporate America. I wonder, if you were to play bullshit bingo in The Lord's meeting how long before you would stand up and shout "bingo"? BTW if this was the Lord, maybe he could explain why the impoverished masses got the shaft and not the rich, fat cats who are responsible for most of America's true evils. Now if the Lord saw fit to unleash a Hurricane on the coast of Southern California to teach all those apostates there a lesson I might start paying attention to this drivel. (reply to this comment)
| | | | | | | from science teacher Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 07:37 (Agree/Disagree?) Name your basic disaster of Biblical proportions, and Berg predicted it at some point in his paranoid existence--earthquakes, floods, fire from the sky, famine, economic collapse, pestilence, war, volcanic eruptions. What are the odds that some (if not all) of these things will occur during our lifetimes? 100% probability!!! Never mind that Berg got the dates, locations, and descriptive details all wrong. It’s been evident for some time that TFI has a problem with misattribution of cause and effect. If there are causes for which the direct effects of Katrina can be attributed to the failures or “sins” of U.S. citizens & their elected leaders, these would be 1) environmental degradation of wetlands and coastal areas, 2) climate change, 3) inadequate emergency management planning, and 4) indifference to the high risk that poverty poses to large segments of an urban population. Where is the causal connection between Katrina's destruction and the Big Easy's propensity to party? There is none. The French Quarter--where the wildest parties get thrown, the best jazz gets piped, and the most perverse behavior is enjoyed and applauded--was completely spared. The rationale underlying Zerby's misattribution is "this effect is the result of that cause because God told me so." Technically advanced democratic societies don't need a voodoo priestess to explain how the universe works or why shit happens. Any rational person can figure out causality, and there's nothing mystical about critical thinking unless you're a braindead cult zombie. (reply to this comment)
| | | from Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 10:55 (Agree/Disagree?) How ironic. They claim that Katrina is gods judgement on their enemies but then they write how the local Family lost their homes?!? What, they don't even edit their shit anymore? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. (reply to this comment)
| from Regi Monday, September 12, 2005 - 20:37 (Agree/Disagree?) This is pure lunacy! They're not the first freaks to blame the hurricane on the abortionists or on gays (see http://web.morons.org/article.jsp?sectionid=2&id=6483), but they're the first to blame it on the media coverage of their abusive and sordid past. I guess it's not surprising though. (reply to this comment)
| from Visp Monday, September 12, 2005 - 16:56 (Agree/Disagree?) Well, Berg was prophecying the destruction of America 20 years ago, so obviously they're going to use something like this to try and back up their claims. Did they say anything about sept 11, or did they feel that it was too big a can of worms to get into? (reply to this comment)
| From Mack Monday, September 12, 2005, 20:38 (Agree/Disagree?) They may not have mentioned 9/11 in this GN but they did in another one. They said some thing to the effect Americas military and money were hit since they are symbolism the US worships. I will find the GN and post it if I can. TF has also written and produced several anti war songs where 9/11 (in so many words) is referenced and America is mentioned as being punished by God. It’s the same old anti America prophecy of doom message they had for our parent’s generation, I still remember handing out the anti-Regan BS as a child in front of the grocery store. I had posted an article on here which was a letter I had written my younger brother after he wrote one of the songs. Sadly enough I have several siblings still in the group who have written anti US songs and one of my brothers talked to me about what TF said after 9/11, althoug it has never been brought up in any home I've been to and they know who and what I do. TF is nothing but a bunch of scared little whimps. Its sort of entertaining how they think we in the military may just snap and kill em. I guess thats why they may not have the nerv to speak against the US or Military in my presence. But I beleive in freedom of speach a right I and many others who wear the uniform have given them I might add. Initialy after 9/11 they were told in a GN to comfort people then later a GN was released talking about how the attacks were God's punishment, etc. Sadly enough the Family will make decent money off of this disaster as they did with the tsunami. They will get a good photo opportunity to post on their web site as they already are doing with the American Red Cross in the back ground. And raise money to line thier pockets with. A couple years ago I got some hate mail form some TF members after I wrote about how they use legitimate charities for photo opportunities in order to get money to pay their rent and feed their welfare collecting faces, when they’re not ballooning (Buffooning). It was after I posted the article titled “WELFARE” (I deleted it last week. I can’t explain my reasons/intentions for deleting it here) I should have posted the hate mail TF sent me now that I think about it. Its funny how today they still use the same old anti America propaganda from the 70s and 80s. I had a chance to get my hands on some good stuff my father left in his RV when he passed away last year. One of the books was “True commix” me and some ex-members in San Diego went through them one night (it was good word time/devotions for us all ther...lol), and one was a cartoon of several Arab leaders who included Saddam Hussein, Yasser Arafat and if I remember correctly Moammar Gaddafi was also among the four faces. The “Comic” talked about how the leaders of these Arab countries along with the USSR were going to stand up to the US and Israel and defeat her (US). Well so much for that prophecy and the rest of the BS that never came true. (reply to this comment) |

| | | from Big Sister Sunday, September 11, 2005 - 15:36 (Agree/Disagree?) Do the New Orleans evacuees in Texas know that Family volunteers think they deserved the hurricane? I think FEMA and the Red Cross need to be informed that Family members working with them have little but distain and disrepect for Americans in general and hurricane victims in particular. I don't even see how Family members can buy this double talk. Their public web site says they have been asked to donate their time and administrative costs to Katerina Relief and their private web site says the people they are helping are actually undeserving partiers controled by evil forces. So Family volunteers are being asked to fake compassion. You'd think that might make them question their leaders but then again, it's what defines them as cult members. (reply to this comment)
| from Sunday, September 11, 2005 - 12:32 (Agree/Disagree?) "57. This disaster doesn't just affect those whose lives are immediately touched by it. This disaster will affect the entire U.S. in time‚ and it will shake them up and cause them to take stock. The reasons for which I would have to punish that country are almost without number, but one of their prime sins and most recent transgressions has been their treatment of you, My Family‚ in the media." What a self-centered evil little c****, that Zerby. "One of the prime sins" is that a few people let out some of the secrets of what she has done? That evil little c*** has no idea what suffering is. Has she ever gone hungry a day in her life, or without knowing what roof she would have over her head, like the poor in ths country, and like the children on whose backs and child organs she built her evil empire, and like those who tried to escape her evil empire without having a hand of human kindness to help them. | from Barbara Bush grafted into TF Sunday, September 11, 2005 - 12:28 (Agree/Disagree?) "39. While the populace and visitors piped and sang and danced and made merry, while there was revelry and partying‚ they were living on the verge of destruction. New Orleans was known as a party city‚ a decadent city to get drunk in and enjoy life in, but their joy was empty and their revelry and partying was as pointless and discordant as some of the music they danced to. And for many, the lives they led were as pointless and meaningless as their partying, and served only to dull the pain of their existence." (reply to this comment)
