Getting Real : Speak your peace
Redundancies, redundancies. Oh how I hate redundancies. | from Fish - Tuesday, May 10, 2005 accessed 1390 times Redundancies, redundancies. Oh how I hate redundancies. You would think that growing up in a repetitive and delusional cult; I would be somewhat accustomed to a high level of redundancy. Perhaps that’s the reason why I hate it so. Now days it seems that everywhere I turn I get annoyed by idiotic word usage. For example, yesterday while checking my hotmail I see an MSN add asking “Are you too short to date women?” “Read this to find out!” WTF? Yes, I’m too short to date women, I guess Ill have to go for lamas…. I get up and go to some lame restaurant for dinner. The waiter brings my salad (lettuce), proudly announcing to me that “Kore wa ‘green salada’ ni narimasu!” (This is green salad) No shit… Green salad, where’s the brown salad I ordered? This kind of nonsense has reached megalithic levels in Japan of late. People say it’s because Japanese can’t speak English, but I know that even when speaking Japanese they are just as bad. I remember asking for directions and being told: “Go straight down this road and turn at the green trees.” Right… (Zuto ZUUUUUTo masugu…) The crowing achievement however, would have to go to the GN I just had the misfortune to skim thru. Not only is it pure esoteric nonsense, but its also highly redundant. (Question:) Is it true that our spirit helpers aren't activated if we don't ask? What if you are in an emergency or something? 100$ to whoever guess the answer our mysterious mentor has instore. (Mama:) I know that if you're anything like me, you probably have a hard time keeping up with the spirit helpers, remembering their names… What if we’re not anything like you? If we’re not a blind, senile, STD infested 60 year old woman, will we be able to “keep up” with our spirit helpers? No luck there. (Jesus:) Change is a spirit helper who gives you the vision for the changes you must make, and why. No, really? And lastly: (Mama:) The Knights of Victory are mighty spirit helpers…. Their armor is made up of the keys…. They have the liberating serum--Father David's fighting serum--to rescue all those in need and to defeat the demons of Hell. Father David’s fighting serum??!! WTF is a fighting serum? Could anything sound more disturbing? “Lets all get down or our knees and pray for ‘david’ to pour out his white hot “fighting serum” upon us.” ARGGGGGG!! |

It's hilarious, the things they have to come up with to occupy their brains in order to keep out all rational thought! I laugh when I think about about it, but it's a laugh tinged with bitterness, remembering my own preoccupation with similar nonsense. (reply to this comment)
| from Fish Sunday, May 15, 2005 - 20:35 (Agree/Disagree?) Check out the latest: Only on MSN What should you do with your life? Right... (reply to this comment)
| from Baxter Thursday, May 12, 2005 - 03:30 (Agree/Disagree?) It's kinda intersting that you draw a sort of connection to Japan. Historically, the Japanese nationalists that motivated the Second World War in the Pacific actually used a lot of the same sort of rhetoric about spiritual warfare and the like. And hey, they got nuked! So there's hope yet! I dunno how this applies to anything, but wtf I thought it might be interesting! Yuk, Yuk! (reply to this comment)
| | | from Thunder7 Wednesday, May 11, 2005 - 20:10 (Agree/Disagree?) I can't even read a line from that GN without feeling sick to my stomach. I'm so ashamed to think that I once believed that trash. (reply to this comment)
| from monger Wednesday, May 11, 2005 - 17:24 (Agree/Disagree?) I take it you were reading GN 1113 from here: http://media.xfamily.org/docs/fam/gn/gn_1113.html ...yes, it's quite the classic. :) You might wanna check out the xFamily article on the Family's "spirit world" here: http://www.xfamily.org/index.php/Category:Spirit_World We'll probly add about 100 or more additional spirit helpers' & demons' names to that list soon, as soon as one of the editors has the time and self-control to avoid laughing their asses off while trying to work through the list. | | | | | | | From vixen Saturday, May 14, 2005, 13:21 (Agree/Disagree?) Aaaaahahahahaha!!! Just reading the opening paragraph, 'The Family claims knowledge of many individual demons, angels and spirit helpers. They believe that referring to angels, demons, etc. by name gives their prayers extra effect. I.e. Family International members may call on Ellya to help them wield the Keys of the Kingdom to fight the Vandari attacking them through media exposure. Or, instead of simply praying to overcome a physical addiction, a Family member may pray for Boheme to sever the tentacles of Bacchus with the Key of Resolve.' had me rolling on the floor in fits of uncontrollable laughter! | | From vixen Saturday, May 14, 2005, 13:43 (Agree/Disagree?) Whoa!!! Fuck me, there's a 'Chief demon of transportation and mail systems disruption'? I wonder how many 'Speed Demons' he commands. Chief demon, eh? I wonder if there're any middle-management positions going. Assistant Demon to the P.A. Demon of Transportation and Mail Systems Disruption, perhaps? Wonder what perks you get as you work your way up, or is it down. With their awesome powers of darkness you'd think they wouldn't need a separate demon for every fucking spiritual obstacle. I guess diversification and multi-tasking hasn't yet made it to the Dark Side... LMFAO!!!(reply to this comment) |
| | from SeanSwede Wednesday, May 11, 2005 - 14:45 (Agree/Disagree?) I believe that if we give them more questions on scientific levels, I promise you, they will not be able to answer them. That was one of the most cowardly thing that Berg said that we should use is just to say "I don`t know". Cause they just are not educated. Children of God?...Yes, they are definatly children. They are so arrogant. They really don`t know much at all. Now that we`ve all growed up, at least I certainly have alot of good questions for them of which I would be intressted to hear what their answers are. Like stuff on the subject that was talked about which is found in the -Faith No More- section. The article is called-Young People of The Family, it's WAKE UP TIME! The Family really are really mentally stuck on this planet and don`t really seem to think about the facts that are beyond this planet and galaxy. Now they can`t start asking for proof. Hell, they don`t even want the proof or truth...it`ll probably make them go nuts like some older generation "adults" did who after too many years had finally left the COG. The COG are not doctorates in palientology, astronomy, mathematics etc. They obviously don`t keep up with the latest on discoveries and medicine. If they did than their would be radical changes in their group. They don`t want to be confused with the REAL truth and evidence. The still want to live with the Care Bears in fairy land. | | | From ameliaus Saturday, May 14, 2005, 14:28 (Agree/Disagree?) Editing is third in the list of considerations when writing for impact or clarity, in case you want to know. First is the emotional impact, second is that all the parts are there, for understanding. Way down the line is spelling and punctuation. Yeah, its important, but often people are so focused on that and grammar that their shy or damaged voice never gets through. I've seen people barely get the nerve to write, only to be decimated by critical attacks completely subverting/overriding the entire post. Related - if the education isn't there, and the person is just getting it together, do you really want to say come back in a couple of years once you've had remedial classes?? Maybe they need to talk now. * * * Same with the other than English thing. I can't write in anything else, my French sucks. If I NEEDED to write in French, they could think I was stupid or retarded, unless they cared.(reply to this comment) |
| | From Fish Sunday, May 15, 2005, 03:56 (Agree/Disagree?) What I was attempting to point out, was the fact that nothing this SeanSwede guy writes makes an iota of sense. Honestly, I can’t make heads or tails of most of his comments, not to mention his articles. Not only that, but he insists on writing in an odious style reminiscent of berg, which further offends me. I’m not critiquing his spelling. I am however criticizing his annoying manner and overt pomposity. (reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | | | from ameliaus Wednesday, May 11, 2005 - 10:31 (Agree/Disagree?) i hope you take this right, but it is the first time I laughed out loud in days. ******************************* I always did wonder how they could put something in 25 not so different ways and not have the readers figure out they were repeating themselves in the letters. Damn! Were they looking for the nuance? the finer point? (reply to this comment)
