Getting Real : Speak your peace
Let's Enjoy The Light, Now That The Darkness Is Over! | from JudasChrist - Friday, February 21, 2003 accessed 1303 times The Family/COG has a reputation with it's current and former members. Predominantly, of the negative kind...
In situations where there was abuse of a mental or a physical kind, it's NOT easy for 1 2 4get the trauma he or she was subject to. Maybe this will help: Think of the "good" times in the cult. Face it! Why do most people on this site chat and correspond? Because we knew each other as youngsters and most of us grew up within the cult in our early teens. The Cult was and IS still Evil, but torturintg yourself with how bad it was (and is), WILL NOT help the situation. Sure there are bad memories. I have a million. But I figure, the GUILTY ONES, THE NAUGHTY LEADERS ARE just loving it when they see us GLORIFY the FRUITS of their "Labor Of Love". Hell, they must have had a blast when they saw this site go up! I know alot of us are in school, have careers, et cetera, but we STILL harp on the evil in the cult. Look for the Silver Lining! We could have been born in the projects. Maybe lessons could be learned from OUR experiences. All I know is, my children (NOT planning on having any...But IF any), Will NOT be treated like I was in the group, that's one thing I can draw from my time in the cult. (I'll still write Peter Stories).

| from skurtu1 Friday, July 30, 2004 - 07:27 (Agree/Disagree?) Hey, when I left the family I lived in a 17ft camper for 1 1/2 years with 7 people(parents & 5 kids) & then the projects. I think growing up in the projects would have been a hell of a lot better than being born into the family. The projects help people that are down & out get back on their feet. You still have some fucked up ideas about the world that you learned in the family. A lot of kids grow up in "projects" & not the Peru Combo or the Phillipine Jumbo, etc. & they lead "happy normal" lives w/o the memories of being fucked by older guys or beaten or thrown against the wall when they screwed up, so how can you compare that to someone who's had a normal family life, but they lived in public housing that helped them out of their poverty. The family never did a damn thing to help us out of our poverty when they threw us out on the streets. when we were making 100s of dollars selling tapes & videos they sure had their hand out, but they sent us out the door broke. They took our new car & all of our cash when we arrived & replaced it with a car thats engine blew 500 miles down the road. I'm not bitter, but you need some serious therapy if you think growing up in the projects would have been worse than the family. I'd trade that life any day. You seem to still carry the pious attitude that all the children of leadership had, grow up & get a real life. Skurtu1 (reply to this comment)
