Getting On : Faith
why | from bobo - Monday, December 23, 2002 accessed 1176 times I wonder why it is.. that people turn against God, because bad experiences happen, It's like not eating again, because once you got the runs, or hating all animals, including fish, because you got bitten by a dog, or maybe not going to school, because a teacher was mean. Can we work through these things and blame the person? People, ie TF, not God. He says it's better not to be born than to hurt a little one that believes in Him, so he cares. Let's not blame him for TF's crimes, hey? I read Mene's testimony and how she felt his love even after and James Penn's and I thought, "Wow!" |

| | | from Lance Monday, December 23, 2002 - 14:03 (Agree/Disagree?) Who says we turned away from "god" because of bad experiences? I started my doubts about god at the age of 12, but because of the group, I didn't come to complete terms with my athiesm until I left 8 years later. My dispise of christianity comes slightly from being raised in the group, but my atheism comes from my pragmatic nature. (reply to this comment)
| | | from JoeH Monday, December 23, 2002 - 10:54 (Agree/Disagree?) There are plenty of good reasons not to believe in God, having been royally mind-fucked by a pseudo-Christian cult is only one of them, albeit a good one. And your metaphors really stink, because the teacher or cook or particular food that gave you diarrhea never claimed to be the supreme power of the universe that was taking care of you at all times, am I making sense? In any case, metaphors don't really provide evidence to back up an argument, they're only good to help illustrate your point. (reply to this comment)
| | | from pharmaboy.. Monday, December 23, 2002 - 09:50 (Agree/Disagree?) I don't have anything against god, actually I met him yesterday while lost in a K-hole, pretty decent chap. I simply abhor Christianity. Btw, this topic has been discussed endlessly, read some old threads for answers. (reply to this comment)
