Getting On : All My Politics
Polls | from Jedran - Monday, January 29, 2007 accessed 774 times What is the criteria for the polls that appear on this site? Is there a particular reason why certain polls that are submitted make it onto this site and others don't? The current poll was submitted on January 20, 2007 and has made it on rather quickly. I submitted a poll sometime in the last few months of 2006 and have yet to see my poll appear. Are the polls chosen by the belief that certain polls would appeal to more visitors than other polls. The poll I submitted had for a subject French politics while the current poll has american politics for a subject. As a French citizen I don't care for american politics just I am sure any american couldn't give a rat's ass about french politics. As a large majority on this site are presumably american I can understand that a poll addressing american issues would be posted before a poll addressing french issues. I don't actually care about the poll but I thought it would be interesting to know if the polls are chose by the demographic they appeal to or is there another criteria? |

Reader's comments on this article Add a new comment on this article | from cool8pack Wednesday, January 31, 2007 - 11:06 (Agree/Disagree?) Another sceanrio is censorship on this site. I recently posted a clarification whether or not something had happened involving an SGA that is no longer in TFI in the far-east. It appeared for a few hours and then was retracted. Is this a site where we are free from prying eyes and filtered threads, where we can rant, rave and discuss, at this point I think it is not. I sought an answer from admin on this and no one got back to me. (reply to this comment)
| | | from MovingOn Admin Tuesday, January 30, 2007 - 08:15 (Agree/Disagree?) Hi Jedran, I tried sending you an email to reply to this, but it bounced. Here's what I wrote: The polls on MovingOn are rotated about once a week. It is a manual process and sometimes a poll will stay up for more than a week if I've not had a chance to update it. Every now and then we get a flurry of submitted polls, and the queue will build up for a few months. When this happens I will generally post the most recent or interesting post available and skip those that are too frivolous in nature or have lost their pertinence. Naturally, since this is a judgment call on my part, I may accidentally skip over a poll that would have otherwise received a high number of votes, and since this may be the case with your poll, I offer my apologies. It was not done out of disregard for the content of the poll, I just had a particularly long backlog that month (May). Since the elections in France are coming up this year (and this month has been rather slow for submitted polls) I'll go ahead and post your poll next. Again, I apologize for the oversight and thank you giving me a heads-up on this. (reply to this comment)
