Getting On : Education
Anyone been to the London MET | from danny012 - Friday, January 11, 2008 accessed 578 times I have just been accepted into the London Metropolitan University and wonder if anyone has been here/heard of it and could give a bit of feedback for me. As far as I can see it is a bit of a rubbish uni, and considering I was offered a place unconditionally, no interview needed and solely on the basis of a photocopy CLE Diploma I have had some doubts about it. Would love to hear what you think of it... I am still waiting to hear back from my other options, but it would be good to have some idea before I make a choice. If you want to write me direct you can contact me on my account. (apologies for any spelling mistakes -- my company's fire wall blocks the spell check :p ) |

Can't say I know the quality of the place, though I live not too far away and have a friend who went there. But the main thing is to be accepted by a uni, and you can always get transferred to another. Personally I intend to go to Birkbeck, so I can continue working fulltime. (reply to this comment)
| from Falcon Friday, January 11, 2008 - 08:46 (Agree/Disagree?) A very good friend of mine is a professor at the London Met. She was interviewed by Richard Dawkins for his book and documentary series. I can put you in touch with her if you want to ask further questions about the university. You can email me through my profile. (reply to this comment)

Under (b), I humbly submit to thee, Milord esquire etc., that there may be a number of countries, areas of study and/or other circumstances where cost matters (and/or can be better expended at other levels of study), because individuals in question may have life circumstances and/or lack or relatives which make that the betterb choice. Even many US law students find themselves so disillusioned in the jobs that they must take when they chose the top ranked school regardless of cost that one should Think. Or at least Try to. There is not even any point trying to apply to those places when you have a patchy education. All I want is the best second rate uni I can get lol. The thing that puts me off the london met, is it seems to be composed entirely of Africans & Poles with very few local students. All the reviews I can find seem to be rather poor (except the ones written by the Poles, which naturally I dont trust).(reply to this comment) |
| | From Hansel Wednesday, January 16, 2008, 22:10 (Agree/Disagree?) Other factors you may want to consider: What you are studying and where you want to work afterwards. Business school is all about networking and making connections, so it doesn't sound like the right school for that. On the other hand, if planning on working outside the UK, no one will know the difference between UK school rankings so that will matter less. (reply to this comment) |
