I know they were victims of abuse too, but all the ones I knew were so incredibly arrogant and messed up a lot of other people's lives. (reply to this comment)
| from rainy Wednesday, January 10, 2007 - 12:46 (Agree/Disagree?) I found that fascinating, to hear the story of Jeremy Spencer's conversion from the other point of view. I never realised they had such a big search for him. Last time I gave it any thought, I still thought it was the beautiful story of a rock star who gave up fame and glory to follow Jesus, and I think of the documentary which ended in him singing "How can my heart be filled with earthly values?" Now you think about how weird it really was, he just disappears, they find him and he's a religious nut, then he pulls his wife and kids into it too. How awful! (reply to this comment)
| from cute Wednesday, January 10, 2007 - 07:26 (Agree/Disagree?) I learned everything I know about sex from Koa and Nat Nat at the ripe young age of 6. Even some things I still haven't tried yet. I'm surprised that they are so accepting of their background, as they were really in the midst of the crap. It makes me wonder about their sister. She ran away from the home when she was in her early teens to be with her filipino boyfriend. She was very abused as a child. I think she is one of the many pre-teens I actually witnessed being raped* by adults in the family. *I say raped because Family doctrine of sharing aside, her age put her well under the age of consent, both legally and morally. She used to cry a lot when I knew her. Can't say I blame her. She was very nice to me. I remember after she ran away and they got her back, the adults were talking about what she had told the systemites. I listened and remember thinking that it was true and I didn't understand why it was such a big deal. It's painfully clear to me now. Anyway, maybe my memory is wrong and they used the word "sister" in the family sense and she was not related, but I'm pretty sure because they had Dicon come to our home during the crisis. Either way, I really hope she is happy now because she went through some tough shit. I wonder what she thinks of this whole thing? (reply to this comment)

| From Nick Thursday, January 11, 2007, 07:11 (Agree/Disagree?) I was thinking about some of the women that were in the fam and just how many men they have slept with. I mean lets say that they only "shared" with 1 "brother" a month. Thats 12 a year. Given that they have now been in the cult for about 25 years now, that’s 300 men! I mean what a bunch of dirty whores! And that’s not counting all the "jons" that they fucked when they were out prostituting.... Uhhh, I mean FFing. I mean didn't Berg take Zerby out FFing every weekend? She could have fucked 40 or 50 guys a year! I mean Jezuz, when you look at it like that I am surprised that the majority of us kids didn't end up with some sort of STD. Not to mention a full blown aids epidemic. (reply to this comment) |

| | | | From Blondie Thursday, January 11, 2007, 11:10 (Agree/Disagree?) Well as far as STDs...here's something not a lot of people have heard about. Do a google search on "HPV" (Human Papilloma Virus). I had never heard about it before but am VERY involved in this issue right now by opening an Awareness Corporation & let me just say, it's SHOCKING how serious it is. It's the 2nd leading cause of women dying from cancer. Condoms don't protect you cause it's transmitted skin-to-skin. And you can have only been sexually active with 1 person in your lifetime, but if they were infected with HPV, you can't guarantee you don't have it. Then if you do, you pass it on to the next partner you're with & the cycle continues. It can stay dormant in your body up to 20 years & then you can be diagnosed with cervical cancer. Anyway....my point isn't necessarily about what HPV is but the fact that, seeing how many men these women slept with...YIKES! And all their BS about only having sex with members within the group: EVEN WORSE! You're just spreading the STI's around. Anyway, look up HPV on the net. It puts a whole new light on "fooling around"!!(reply to this comment) |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | From rainy Thursday, January 11, 2007, 12:14 (Agree/Disagree?) Not a lot of people have heard about? Wow it sure is different here. The information campaigns have been going on since I was a young child. I remember seeing signs everywhere as a kid about the importance of pap smears. I can't remember the statistics, but definitely more sexually adults carry HPV than don't. Good news is there's a vaccine out they're going to start giving to pubescent girls, cervical cancer may soon be a thing of the past. Bad news is our Prime Minister's having a hard time signing over the money to make the vaccine freely availabe to all Australian girls. Bad news #2, it's probably too late for most of us.(reply to this comment) |
| | From Blondie Thursday, January 11, 2007, 13:25 (Agree/Disagree?) Same with our Government in Canada. Our Corporation is trying to make it so that when the children in grade 4 (age 9) get their Hep-B shot in one arm, they'll get the HPV vaccination in the other...BEFORE they even become sexually active. That way the whole next generation will be protected. Our Corporation is also doing presentations in High Schools to explain all this to students so they realize the seriousness of fooling around & "just giving a BJ". As far as it being too late for us...true in a way, although there are tests that can be done & if you're not infected with the specific HPVs that cause cervical cancer/genital warts, you can be vaccinated so that even if you come into contact with it, you'll be protected. But like I said, at least our children will be safe from cervical cancer & it will eventually become "a thing of the past".(reply to this comment) |
