Getting On : Pop Culture
Queen of the Damned | from porceleindoll - Sunday, August 18, 2002 accessed 1293 times Jules, I finally got around to reading it, now I have morbid fascination to find out if vampires truly exist. But I have a question, do you think Anne Rice was purposely trying to draw a similarity between vampires and Jesus? For instance, the way a vampire gives 'eternal life' (or eternal death) to a person is to let them 'eat of my flesh and drink of my blood'. It's kind of freaky when you think of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the book though, I was scared to start it and it sat on my shelf for almost 2 years. Now I'm downloading the movie, but I hope it's not too different from the book. |

| from Andygirl Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 23:11 (Agree/Disagree?) Nevermind the Anne Rice based movies. Read the books! Read all of her books and then read them all again. The woman has a style and a grace in her writing that keeps you glued to the page and dreaming of morbid delights. I have read and loved just about all of them. Just had to mention this as a person who loves to read especially now that I am allowed to! (reply to this comment)
| | | | | from Rae Tuesday, December 17, 2002 - 08:42 (Agree/Disagree?) the movie was cool in the way that it brought the book to life, but as far as the storyline goes, it totally sucked. They left out the entire story about the ancients and you don't even know why they want to kill Akasha, the major part of the book is about them, all they did was throw some sappy love story in and called it a movie, seriously I was hoping for so much better. | from dave Wednesday, September 04, 2002 - 14:55 (Agree/Disagree?) On the same vein...................... I always suspected Christopher Lambert's character and his foes in the Highlander movies were vampires. How else would they live forever? OK, tamed vampires. Maybe they popped blood pills in order to keep going. To keep the Highlander franchise original, the producers probably omitted that from the script. But it's been eons since I've rented Highlander and I can hardly remember any of it. Later. (reply to this comment)
