Rant : Alanis Morisette | from shikaka - Monday, September 20, 2004 accessed 1610 times Alanis Morisette is a mentally challenged wench. That was the thought that repeated in my head when I heard "Ironic" on the radio today. Alanis gives a dozen examples of really rotten luck, or coincidence, at best, and then croons, "isnt it ironic?" What I am wondering is: How the fuck do you figure that "rain on your wedding day" or "a free ride when youve already paid" (a contradiction, by the way) is ironic? American heritage dictionary defines irony as: Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended. I.E: " madness, an ironic fate for such a clear and brilliant thinker." The only examples in her song that could possibly be construed as irony would be: "Meeting the man of your dreams, then meeting his beautiful wife." or perhaps "10,000 spoons, when all you need is a knife", though I think that's stretching it. The blatant irony in her song is the fact that in 4 minutes of crooning about irony, she demonstrates no ability to define it. Damn Canadians. (dont flame me, jules) |

| from The other damn Canadians Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - 10:17 (Agree/Disagree?) I wouldn't worry about Jules, just wondering who you're comparing us to? Certainly it wouldn't be your darling Republican president, let's talk about the head brains of all intelligent american Republicans Actual quote: "we gotta ask the question, 'Is (sic) our children getting a quality education'"? Answer -- NO! We don't speak Dubya redneck, which is why we all Texan republicans gotta cut ederation funding, and start sending what's left to "Charter Schools" (special name for privately-run schools with all the efficiency & corruption of Halliburton) so our friendly republican donors can start making a killing off school money Halliburton-style Other Actual Quote: "I wanna make sure that everyone who has a job, wants a job" I guess Dubya figured that 1.5 million people who had jobs didn't want their jobs so he made sure to eliminate 1.5 million jobs since being in office. I'm curious though, how does being the only president since the Great Depression to have a net loss of jobs fit in with the dubya "Growth Plan"? Did he mean growth in unemployment? Just wondering, weren't you about to join dubya's spaghetti western out in Iraq? Have fun. (reply to this comment)
| From shikaka Tuesday, September 21, 2004, 10:54 (Agree/Disagree?) Am I missing something? Some vage thread of connection perhaps, between alanis morisette and bush/unemployment? About the only things that I gathered from your incoherent ramblings were: You are an unemplyoyed(?), irate canadian who enjoys posting random, unintelligible garbage about "Dubya"..(umm, no, I dont speak canadian..) If you expect me to defend Bush, dont hold your breath. I happen to be a fan of anarchy, and despise government of any kind. For your next irate post, why dont you first: Make sure you are posting in the right forum. Then, map out for me exactly what related argument you are trying to refute. In the words of Austin Power's dad: "If you've got an issue, here's a tissue!"(reply to this comment) |
| | | | From exister Tuesday, September 21, 2004, 10:44 (Agree/Disagree?) Let's not forget his quote about gynecologists practicing their love with women. Sadly it is starting to look like I will soon be a citizen of possibly the only nation to knowingly elect a bumbling idiot to lead it. Notice I don't say re-elect since technically he was appointed in 2000 by daddy's friends. If we can only give him the boot in November we can save ourselves from going down in history as electors of the village idiot. Otherwise I will have to wholeheartedly agree with Joe that we live in "El Pais de Los Tontos." (reply to this comment) |
| | from roughneck Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - 10:03 (Agree/Disagree?) Some standup comedian had damn near the same rant on the comedy channel the other night. Nice to see that you're paying attention, though. :) (reply to this comment)
