Getting Out : Inside Out

Got Education???

from Guccigirl - Wednesday, February 16, 2005

For some reason unknowns to me I happen to have a copy of the Childcare Handbook II. I started flipping through the pages, the more I read the more pissed off I became, so I thought this might serve as an item of interest. These quotes are right out of The CCHB and haven’t been altered in anyway.

Opening page: The Childcare Handbook II
I consider for our children right now, the best education you can possibly get is in the Word, in the Bible and in the Mo letters. I wouldnt advise any of our children to look forward to trying to get any kind of education above, frankly, the high school level, even junior high school level or hardly grade school level. As long as they can read and write and figure the 3 Rs, Reading Riting and Rithmetic. The best education they can get is an education in the Word and faith and survival and mobility and preaching the Gospel, right now!

Education
We are not against education at least not our kind! The basic meaning of the Latin roots of the word literally means to lead out and this is surely what were trying to do- lead people out of the Pit of the Devils education materialism and sin and darkness- into his glorious light. But secular, materialistic, deceitful, lying, anti-god, anti-Christ, anti-bible, anti-prayer public education that makes raging monsters of its children on drugs, we are against. Nevertheless, a little of the worlds education sometimes can help in a few instances where you deal with the world and meet the system on its own grounds. How much formal education should we give our children to enable them to live in our present day society? How much education do our children need to be able to understand the Mo letters and the Bible? We should have a basic education for our children, the old 3Rs. Our children need only what is known as basic education up to 6th grade education is about all our kids need.

Teaching Tips
Because were not going into life to try and make scientists of money-making businessmen out of our kids, their basic school education shout be to be accomplished within six or seven years at the very most. All they really need is the 3 Rs & the 3 Gs.
And now we have our own educational textbook for our own children! With everything you need to know for your childs education from babyhood thur elementary education! The best education in this world, after all, our homes should be places where children learn about Jesus not the systems propaganda. There is so much to teach our kids out of the mo letters, why should we teach them anything else.

Sex-ed
Its my conviction that children are allowed a normal, natural God-made sex life, then later when it comes to puberty & they move into complete sexual relationships & have extremely strong sexual urges, which god intended. Lord bless our children that they may be brought up naturally, in the way you intended & made them to be & the way they naturally are it theyre permitted to be natural

Discipline:
Disciplining a child is hard work. Spanking & lecturing & punishing & keeping up with a child & catching him in everything hes done wrong is hard work.
You cant let them get away with a thing; otherwise youll end up with a spoiled child who thinks he can get away with murder!
Now the little bottom is not very often the offending member unless it sits somewhere it shouldnt, but it makes a very handy well-padded spot to apply the chastisement where it not going to damage anything, but the child is still able to feel if effectively. I usually used the Handel end of a fly swatter & it does sting! Sometimes it leaves little red lines, stripes, but by their stripes they are healed. Never hit in a place that could injure them. My policy was two warnings & the third time was the charm or the harm in which I socked it to em. I used to tell Mom that the time to stop spanking is not when theyre screaming, its when they stop screaming & beg for mercy. So I used to threaten them & say, Now the louder you scream, the harder Im going to spank you! You can tell the difference between a really hurt cry and a made cry of hurt feelings: They dont cry as hard or as loud when their bodies ate getting hurt as when their feelings are getting hurt. So Keep laying it on until you know they really are sorry & really arent going to do it again, because youve made them plenty sorry & they know that if theyre going to get that kind of a spanking. The bible says spare not the child for his crying. Remember when child-training the Chastening. A child not only has to love you, but hes also got to be controlled through fear, he has to fear you & not be allowed to get away with anything.

(Agree/Disagree?)

From "The Philistine and Genius"
written by Boris Sidis in 1911. (Father of William James Sidis)

"Obedience and discipline arc the mainstay of family and school," told me an otherwise intelligent schoolmaster. "I control my children with kindness, if possible, and if needs be, with force." The child is trained to act not by the light of reason, but by the command of superior force. The child is ruled by fear!

As a protection against fear the child learns to be secretive, evasive of truth, and cowardly of action. These traits of character, acquired in early childhood, become basic. The child will never fully rid himself of fear and its distressing consequences. Fear will stay with him, and dog his steps all his life long.

Fear is one of the most fundamental of animal instincts, it is the companion. of the most primitive impulse of self-preservation. Once this fear instinct is aroused, it grows like an avalanche in its downward course. In later life this fear instinct becomes manifested in various ways, giving rise to the most distressing nervous and mental symptoms. In my medical practice, as specialist of nervous and mental diseases, I have traced again and again the worst forms of maladies to the fear instinct aroused in early childhood.

Training by fear, submission, and obedience opens the door wide to all kinds of nervous and mental germs, weakening the mental and moral constitution of man. Man becomes unreasonable, capricious, driven by the impulse of self-preservation, and by the furies of the fear instinct. The impulse of self-preservation with its satellite the fear instinct becomes predominant in character which lacks the stamina of sturdiness, frankness, openmindedness and independence.

A person brought up in the school of fear and blind obedience lacks steadiness of purpose, courage, independence, critical judgment, becomes bigoted and intolerant. He falls an easy prey to the suggestions of his times and surroundings, succumbs to the influence of unscrupulous leaders. Such a person lacks mental and moral poise, he is wanting in the true courage of reason, present in the fully developed man and woman. He can not withstand the pressure of social opinion, being unable to stand by his post in the face of threatening social opposition. Ruled by fear at home, he is governed by terror in society. He is afraid of social punishment, "of losing face," as the Chinese say, with his neighbors, gossips, circles and clubs. He dreads above all the judgment of the crowd, and is scared by the jeers and ridicule of the mob. Human life interests become limited by the narrow horizon of a mob-ruled personality. The unceasing obedience to the suggestions of the crowd weakens and loosens the reasoning and moral fibre, reduces the energies of the mind to the animal level, controlled by self-preservation and fear.

I am assuming Tf still uses these books, they did when I left 8 yrs ago. I wonder what they have to say about this now? I would love to confront a DO person about this. Isn't it against the law to not have your child in school? So much of that reading was illegal, I am shocked. Why can I not remmber that?

It is against the law to deny education to children in the United States and Europe. I don't know about the rest of the world, however.

My family in TF does homeschooling of their 5 kids, all under 12. Or so they say. When ever I visit they always seem to be "on vacation", so I haven't seen much schooling being done. Except once, when the child being "taught" by a parent sat crying during the entire "lesson" and was slapped several times as he tried to escape under the table! I felt like this example was done for my benefit and the child was obviously not used to having to sit and learn so he was acting like he was being tortured. I can say with some accuracy that the 5 children are one to three years behind where they should be under minimal educational standards. However, I make sure that the social services in their area is aware of this family. Social services has made enough visits to force the parents to keep up a steady attempt at homeschooling. It is not enough but it is the best I have been able to do, so far. Social services does not want to remove the children; they want to see the parents respect the laws of our society that require that children be given at least a minimal education; and believe me, the minimal legal standards are bare bones! And from what I can see, TF's standards are still lower than that.(reply to this comment

Guccigirl, is it possible for you to provide the page numbers for each of those paragraphs. I'm writing an article and may use parts of those quotations, but would need to know the page numbers for citation purposes. Could you also provide the date that book was published. And am I correct in assuming it was published by World Services?

For me personally the most chilling quotes are the ones that speak of controlling your kids through fear & that's exactly what happened - We lived in fear everyday.

Anyways hope this was helpful(reply to this comment

Reading that discipline part made me sick, made me remember all the times, starting from when I was 4 years old & I would get spanked with a fly swatter or belt on my bare bum by some creepy uncle who kept yelling, "if you keep screaming i'll spank you harder". then I was supposed to thank the uncle afterwards, and pray to Jesus...No wonder I don't remember much of my life prior to 12.

Oh you too? I wonder how common it is among Ex members to have supressed most of their childhood. What I do remember is pretty bad, so when I think about everyithing I can't recall it gets pretty disturbing.

And yes, thank you I've heard it before, it's great to excise these demons... blah blah blah. Always easier said than done.(reply to this comment

My dad still insists on keeping his children out of school even though he's gone FM(or whatever it is now), and they're completely losing their desire to learn anything thanks to that travesty that is CLE.

Worst part of it is, he could easily pay for private tutoring, but he's rather spend the money on himself. His children live in a foreign country, born to a national wife, but they don't speak the national language so that pursuing higher education will be next to impossible unless they get duel citizenship, but he won't even get off his ass to sort that out. He shares the basic attitude of most TF FGA males: kids are only meant to be seen and not heard; they make you look good, a demonstration of your virility, but spending more money than is necessary to make them like you when they're still cute and little, and people can still pat them on the head and say 'oh, sweet', is definitely non-prospect.

And he thinks that at some point he should get the credit for the fact that despite having no education to speak of, I managed to get into a good university- DICKHEAD!

OH MY GOD! I don't ever remember reading that...but I probably did while I was still a child-labor childcare worker and never noticed anything out of the norm since it was all I knew.
